Ricky Schroder is once again at the center of controversy. The actor, famous for his role on the crime drama series NYPD Blue, doubled down on his criticism of Dolly Parton's vaccine advocacy just days after the I Will Always Love You singer passed away at age eighty. Schroder, who played a dramatized version of Parton's father in two Christmas movies, took to his Instagram Story late Wednesday and posted over a video clip of Parton speaking about receiving her Moderna COVID vaccine shot."I warned Dolly to not support the Experiment," he wrote.Ricky Schroder then added that he "wished she listened" to him, finishing off his remarks with a frown-face emoji. As per a report shared by Entertaiment Weekly, the comments follow Parton's history of vaccine advocacy, which included donating one million dollars toward early coronavirus research efforts during the pandemic. That being said, his tribute was far from straightforward. Despite their working relationship, Schroder made his differing views known in the very caption he used to honor her."I didnt agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support...but Loved her anyway. The actor's initial tribute drew strong blowback from fans and stars alike. Back in 2021, the former Silver Spoons star made headlines after he posted a video to his Facebook page, in which he can be seen questioning a Costco employee after they refused to let him enter the store without a mask. Schroder asked the employee, whose name was Jason, why he was being turned away."Because in the state of California and the county of Los Angeles, and Costco, there has been no change to our mask policy," Jason replied.Schroder pushed back, arguing that Costco had nationally announced that masks were no longer required inside their stores."Yes there has been. You didn't see the news? Nationwide Costco has said you don't need to wear masks," Schroder said.As per a report shared by Variety, however, the no-mask policy only applied within states and jurisdictions that no longer had a mask mandate in place. California and Los Angeles County both still required masks inside establishments at the time. Jason was quick to set the record straight."Actually, that's not accurate. And you're just going to listen to their rules? I'm getting my refund. I'm getting my refund from Costco. I suggest everybody in California get their refund from Costco. Give up your membership to Costco until they remove this," he added.Jason calmly pointed out that nothing had changed across any store or building he knew of in California, and that Costco was simply following the law. Ricky Schroder later posted a separate video addressed directly to Jason, offering what he called an apology."I was trying to make a point to the corporate overlords. Sorry that I had to use you to do it. If I hurt your feelings, I apologize. But I do think that independence from medical tyranny is more important than hurting people's feelings. So I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, but I want us all to be free," he said.
