Tom Hiddleston is trending online, as fans of Taylor Swift speculate that her new song Pink Clouding could be about the British actor. The thirty-six-year-old Grammy winner dropped four new tracks for The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, just days after she had surprised fans with the announcement of new music.

The latest songs include Patient Zero, Pink Clouding, Babylon and Cleveland!, with the last track appearing to be a nod to Travis Kelce's hometown in the state of Ohio. Swift, who has been present at multiple NFL games this season supporting her husband, released the extended edition of the album while the season was still in full swing.

Pink Clouding has since sparked debate amongst Swifties, as the lyrics seemingly show Swift apologising to a former partner. Fans have taken to social media to voice their thoughts, with the top contenders for the song's subject being Tom Hiddleston and Joe Alwyn.

Swift sang the following:

"I hope you realized my kind of trouble wasn't worth it/And the way I treated you, you never deserved it/And I swear to God, to this day/I wake up scared that I left scars on a good person."

One fan on X did not hold back, writing the following:

"Is pink clouding about..... TOM HIDDLESTON???"

As per a report shared by the BBC, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston had called it quits after just three months of dating, back in September 2016. The romance, which fans and the media had nicknamed "Hiddleswift," reportedly began after the pair were spotted flirting at the Met Gala in May of that year.

What followed was a relationship that played out very publicly on the world stage. The couple were seen travelling together across multiple countries, including a trip to England where Swift met Tom's family. That being said, sources close to the pair revealed:

"They get along great and will remain friends, but they just don't see it working romantically right now."

The very public nature of the romance had led to widespread speculation that the entire relationship was an elaborately staged publicity stunt. Hiddleston addressed those claims directly in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, stating the following:

"Look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy. Thanks for asking. That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."

It is also worth noting that the relationship had begun just weeks after Swift broke up with DJ Calvin Harris. Shortly after the split, Harris took to Twitter to call Swift out, after she claimed sole writing credit on his single This Is What You Came For.

"I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do," Harris tweeted.

As for the song itself, Pink Clouding takes its name from a real psychological term. As per Healthline, pink clouding, also referred to as pink cloud syndrome, describes a stage of early addiction recovery marked by feelings of euphoria and elation.
