Actor Terry Crews' wife, Rebecca King-Crews, has talked candidly about her lengthy health battle. She has been dealing with Parkinson's disease for years and has confirmed that she is cancer-free after a previous diagnosis. Speaking on the Today show, Terry Crews and Rebecca King-Crews shared that she was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015 after experiencing symptoms for several years.

Is Rebecca King-Crews cancer-free?

Rebecca King-Crews is currently cancer-free. In 2020, she had a double mastectomy after receiving a stage 1 breast cancer diagnosis. Since then, she has managed her other medical problem while recovering from cancer.

Rebecca stated that her initial symptoms started in 2012. She first experienced numbness in her left foot during exercise, which eventually progressed into apparent problems like a limp and decreased arm movement.

She also remembered having tremors, such as when she was applying lip gloss, and her hand started to shake. Despite these symptoms, doctors first thought she was experiencing anxiety or overexertion, and it took almost three years for a specialist to determine that she had Parkinson's disease.

Tremors have been one of Rebecca's most problematic symptoms, making daily activities like applying cosmetics and brushing her teeth difficult. Along with the psychological effects of managing a chronic illness, she also endured constant infections and physical problems over the years. Rebecca revealed that she thought to herself:

"Just keep walking. Just keep going. And that's what I'm going to keep doing. I believe that you don't lay down and die because you got a diagnosis."

Speaking on the effects of the disease, Terry Crews said it was challenging to watch her battle symptoms, including tremors, lack of sleep, and balance problems. Watching her write her own name again made Terry Crews "choke up just thinking about it."

He praised her perseverance throughout the journey and referred to her as the "rock" of their family. Terry Crews said:

"When they say sickness and health, this is the battle that we were designed to fight together. Where she's weak, I'm strong. Where I'm weak, she's strong. And we built each other up like that for almost 37 years and all the way to forever."

What treatment did Terry Crews' wife undergo?

Rebecca just had bilateral focused ultrasound, a recently approved non-invasive therapy that uses targeted sound waves to treat brain regions associated with movement symptoms.

She said she is now able to write her name and dates again and use her right hand after being unable to do so for around three years. Rebecca revealed:

"I feel good. I’m able to write my name and my dates, and I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years."

Rebecca experienced significant improvements following the operation in March on one side of her body. She explained:

"Part of the procedure is improved symptoms, so you’re improved on one side (but) not on the other. However, each day that I do things, I’m aware of the benefit that’s already been to me on the one side of the body. So I’m looking forward to doing the left side."

She also reported fewer tremors and better balance on one side, but she still takes medicine because the other side's symptoms persist. In September, a second procedure will take place.

Rebecca decided to disclose her illness now as she has made a lot of progress and is optimist for her future treatments. She continues to be active despite having Parkinson's disease for almost a decade now. Speaking about this, she said:

"I wanted to potentially make it more available to others, because it’s an expensive surgery, it’s not covered (by insurance) yet. And (I want) to give hope to people with Parkinson's, because I believe that we’re going to find the cure."

She continues her recuperation journey with the help of her husband, Terry Crews, and their kids.
