Jenna Dewan’s fiancé Steve Kazee says he’s in “awe” of how the actress handled DWTS criticism

The Working Class actor, Steve Kazee, who is engaged to professional dancer-turned-actress Jenna Dewan, recently took to social media and addressed the backlash his fiancée faced as a contestant on the popular reality show, Dancing With the Stars.

According to Us Weekly, Steve Kazee, 50, who is the recipient of a Tony Award, took to his Instagram and shared a post on September 30, 2026, acknowledging the backlash the Tamara actress Jenna Dewan, 45, faced on the dancing reality show and particularly mentioned how amazed and in "awe" he was of the way his fiancée dealt with the criticism. After the September 29, 2026, episode of DWTS, Kazee, on his Instagram handle on September 30, wrote:

"I could not be more in awe of this incredible woman. The amount of literal blood, sweat, and tears she has poured into this journey over the last month has been beyond amazing to witness. The hours, the bruises, the blisters, the exhaustion, the nerves, the constant push to get better."

The Rookie actor, Kazee, who first came across Jenna Dewan in 2012, got engaged to the reality TV star in 2020. While mentioning his fiancée, Dewan's dedication and devotion to the process and her craft, Kazee wrote:

"She has given herself completely to this experience, and somehow, through all of it, she is joy. I think in life we should all want the people we love most to have the chance to fill their hearts with the things that make them feel most alive. To challenge themselves. To surprise themselves. To remember parts of who they are that maybe got buried beneath work, parenthood, responsibility, and just the everyday business of life."

In his Instagram post, Steve Kazee took the opportunity to mention the criticism and negative opinions Jenna Dewan faced on Dancing With the Stars for her previous experience as a professional dancer. As Kazee mentioned, it is difficult for anyone, in this case his fiancée, to avoid people's unwanted opinions despite being the best one could be. He wrote:

"I’ve also watched her take on all the noise that comes with putting yourself out there like this. The opinions, the chatter, and the criticism that, despite best attempts, feels almost inescapable in this age of the almighty algorithm. And what has impressed me most is that she keeps showing up with an open heart."

Kazee further added:

"She listens, she works, she keeps learning, and she refuses to let any of it steal the joy she has found in doing this. I am just so d*mn proud of her and I am honored to stand beside her through it all. Keep dancing, baby. Keep filling up that heart. I’ll be right here cheering louder than anyone."
