Melania Trump has the distinction of being a two-term First Lady of the United States. In addition to her entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts, Amazon MGM is on the precipice of rolling out Melania, a documentary film that captures the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.

In the latest news about the upcoming documentary, Jimmy Kimmel was the latest to poke fun at the entire spectacle on several occasions during his monologue on the January 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The host’s first jab came after comments were made on the “Inside Trump’s Head” podcast that insinuated that Melania was upset that the coverage of the ICE killings in Minneapolis was detracting from the film’s publicity:

“According to the writer Michael Wolff, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe — I mean, documentary — that Amazon made for her.”

Next, Kimmel showed a clip from a Fox News segment where Melania Trump was calling for unity while also pushing her film. He quipped:

“Oh, good, Melania’s calling for unity. Either that, or she is ordering tea. ‘You need tea?'”

Finally, on the subject of President Donald Trump watching the film, he joked:

“Well, for him it is a must watch. My guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket.”

The Bret Ratner-directed Melania will release in theatres nationwide on January 30.

Donald Trump on “Melania”, more

President Donald Trump has made his thoughts on the upcoming Amazon MGM film clear. In an interview from December 2025, while aboard Air Force One, the President shared:

"I’ve seen pieces of it. It’s incredible, I tell you. I think it’s gonna do… you know, she did a book and the book was a big number one bestseller, and this is a movie. It seems to be captivating a lot of people’s attention."

He added:

"It’s a very hard ticket [to get], I can tell you. Everybody, Wayne Gretzky and his wife, Janet, beautiful wife, great wife. They said last night, ‘gee, I want to go to.’ A lot of [people], everybody wants tickets to [it].

Interestingly, the production of Melania has not been without controversy. The subject matter itself is delicate, and there is an obvious objective obligation to be truthful with what is depicted.

Beyond that, director Brett Ratner was publicly disgraced during the ‘MeToo’ movement when six women, including actresses Natasha Henstridge and Olivia Munn, publicly accused him of s*xual harassment and misconduct.
