Low budget Indie Horror, Obsession's art director claims that she was underpaid despite the film grossing over $224 million. Indie director @kiwisupreez, credited as Sally Choi on IMDb, who claims that she was Obsession's art director, shared a post on Instagram where she reveals how much she's made with the project.

The film had a reported budget of $750K and grossed $250 million at the box office. The film has also extended it's theatrical run. Obsession surrounds a shy music store employee named Bear who breaks a magical "One Wish Willow" to make his longtime crush Nikki, fall madly in love with him. The wish turns Nikki played by Indi Navarette into a terrifyingly obsessive and erratic presence.

Sally Choi in her Instagram post mentioned that she had been debating calling the film out for a long time,

“obssn was made for $750K and is projected to make $250M. How much I made: $300/day as Art Director. This came out to $6741.36 after taxes. No mileage."

Sally mentioned that she did know the rate before agreeing to the project but agreed to it since she was living from "paycheck to paycheck."

Choi also agreed that some of the crew were also volunteers who were paid in gas and mileage and that they were not even paid on time. Choi mentioned that since it was a low budget film she wore "many hats" including "PA, set dresser, graphic designer, background actor, driver, swing, and buyer."

After Choi's post went viral, several users (@zerowontmiss) claimed that Choi made a lot of money for just 7 days of work,

"Art director got payed $7k for just 20 days btw"

"idc they atleast deserve a bonus" - Social meida users have mixed reaction to Obsession's art director's revelations

Social media users have had mixed reaction to Sally Choi's call for industry reform. While many claimed that the art director atleast deserves a bonus for Obsession being a hit, others questioned if Sally would have returned the money had the film tanked.

A user (@maddyswifts) highlighted that Sally along with other crew members deserve a bonus,

"idc they at least deserve a bonus??? i mean hell it wouldn’t be so good if it wasn’t for them!"

Another user (@VertedWinger) questioned if Choi would have returned the pay had it underperfomed,

"When she works on a movie that underperforms, does she return her pay?"

Another user (@wantthepfunk) said that Choi could have used the film's performance as a leverage for getting more opportunities,

"You use that experience as leverage for the next position. Now everyone knows you will be potentially difficult to work with, nice going"

Another user (@_0xShunya) highlighted that since the director wasn't the one who took the risk, she doesn't deserve the hike,

"You didn't take the risk, you don't get the hike."

Film's director Curry Baker is yet to respond to Sally Choi's revelations.
