On September 8, Carly Rae Jepsen opened up about her split from former manager Scooter Braun. During her latest interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Canadian singer shared the reason why she ended her professional relationship with Scooter Braun.For those unaware, Carly joined Braun’s label following the release of her track Call Me Maybe in 2011. She reportedly parted ways with her former manager in 2016. In her new interview, the artist shared the reason behind her split. She said that she wanted to be ‘less’ mainstream. Carly Rae Jepsen said she liked what Scooter did as her manager, but she didn’t want it anymore.“I knew that I was on a different journey than he understood,” Carly said. “I wanted to do something a little bit less mainstream, and I liked what he had offered, but I didn’t necessarily think it was what I wanted anymore. I felt like it was just going to be a little bit easier to shake hands, walk away and go let my freak flag fly, so to speak,” she added.Carly playfully added that she took one of Braun’s employees with her. The singer expressed that she experiences more freedom to explore with her current managers and said that Interscope has always treated her well.“I wouldn’t say I had complete agency from the beginning, but not because they were trying to take it away,” she explains. “But I didn’t know how to take it,” Jepsen said.Currently, Interscope Records looks after Jepsen’s music releases.Carly Rae Jepsen shared details about her first childWhile talking to THR, Carly also shared that her first kid is a boy, named Ilya.
