Conservative political commentator, podcast host, and author Matt Walsh is having a meltdown on X amid the Republican defeat in the midterm election. In a recent post, he wrote:

“Trump is now an 80-year-old lame duck with a Democratic Congress. The immediate political task is to find the next leader of the party. It isn’t going to be Trump, and wouldn’t be even if Republicans won tonight. Time to look to the future.”

In another post, Matt Walsh wrote:

“The American people do not owe ‘loyalty’ to any politician. They owe loyalty to us. Your loyalty is to your nation. You support politicians when they do the right thing and criticize them when they do the wrong thing. They serve you. Not the other way around.”

In a third post, Walsh, 40, added:

“The Republican Congress did nothing. Achieved nothing. Took the mandate they were given and did precisely zero with it. Feckless losers who are relieved to no longer be in the majority. The only thing Republicans do with power is bide their time until they can relinquish it.”

Exploring Matt Walsh’s reaction after Democrats took over U.S. Congress

Frequent Fox News and NewsNation contributor Nick Sortor tweeted that Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom might win against incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in Mississippi.

“I regret to inform you that it looks like Republicans will likely lose a US Senate seat in MISSISSIPPI. MISSISSIPPI. Still not over, but we're over 95% reporting.”

Matt Walsh reacted to Nick Sortor’s post by writing:

“There’s no way to soft-pedal this. It’s a political catastrophe of historic proportions. The Republican Party needs all new leadership. No one should be spared from blame, starting at the top.”

Walsh’s meltdown continued in a post which read:

“The MAGA political brand is dead, but America First as a movement and principle lives on and must live on. If the Republican Party will have any future, and if the country itself will have any future, it will be through America First.”

On his podcast The Matt Walsh Show, the conservative commentator called the midterm election result a “Greek tragedy.” He added:

“We have had two Republican Presidents in this century and the first one derailed his presidency and destroyed his party for ten years with a pointless foreign war that was deeply unpopular. This Republican President won the presidency, in part, by lambasting that decision and coming out publicly against it and now he is going to end his presidency, having it derailed with another pointless foreign war that will also probably destroy his party for ten years.”

A few hours ago, Matt Walsh tweeted:

“I have to check the exit polling, but can anyone tell me what percentage of voters were primarily concerned with renaming AI to SI and making sure the White House ballroom was renovated? Oh, exactly zero percent? Wow, okay.”

His fellow far-right political commentator, livestreamer, and influencer Nick Fuentes slammed Walsh’s meltdown and called him out for “obediently” voting for the Republicans because they were “not the left.”

Despite being a conservative, Matt Walsh has been a longtime vocal critic of Donald Trump and his foreign policies. Fellow commentator Matt Van Swol also expressed doubts about the credibility of the midterm election results, as did Jack Posobiec, the senior editor of right-wing news outlet Human Events. Other conservative influencers spiralling online include Tim Pool, Joe Mannarino, and Bo Loudon.

Meanwhile, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that if he were on the ballot, Republicans would have “won IN A LANDSLIDE!” He has also threatened to “veto” Democratic legislation and posted an image of a red cap with the words "VETO" instead of "MAGA."
