Political commentator Matt Walsh has shared his thoughts on the ongoing US midterm elections. He labeled the Democrats' lead in Mississippi a "political catastrophe of historic proportions."While reporting in some states is not yet complete, the Democrats have won the midterm elections. They have taken control of the Senate and the House and will keep them until the end of the current government. Many states have also flipped during the ongoing election.According to journalist Nick Sortor, Mississippi could also see a Democratic Senate. He posted on X (formerly Twitter):"I regret to inform you that it looks like Republicans will likely lose a US Senate seat in MISSISSIPPI. MISSISSIPPI. Still not over, but we're over 95% reporting."Matt Walsh quoted Sortor's post and wrote:"There’s no way to soft pedal this. It’s a political catastrophe of historic proportions. The Republican Party needs all new leadership. None should be spared from blame, starting at the top."The Mississippi elections haven't been called at the time of writing. However, Democratic candidate Scott Colom is leading the race, with Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith closely behind him (via NBC News). Ty Pinkins is one of the independent candidates.Meanwhile, Matt Walsh has slammed the Republican Party in numerous posts amidst the midterm election results. He wrote in one post:"The Republican congress did nothing. Achieved nothing. Took the mandate they were given and did precisely zero with it. Feckless losers who are relieved to no longer be in the majority. The only thing Republicans do with power is bide their time until they can relinquish it."Walsh is a far-right political commentator who had urged people to vote for the Republicans. Also Read: Matt Walsh weighs in as Virginia Gov. Meanwhile, Donald Trump's term as president is scheduled to end in January 2029, having been inaugurated in January 2025.Following the Republicans' overall defeat in the midterm elections, Matt Walsh slammed Trump in a post on X. He urged the party to find a new leader, writing:"Trump is now an 80 year old lame duck with a Democrat congress. The immediate political task is to find the next leader of the party. It isn’t going to be Trump, and wouldn’t be even if Republicans won tonight. Time to look to the future."When another X account spoke about showing loyalty to Trump, Matt Walsh wrote:"The American people do not owe “loyalty” to any politician. They owe loyalty to us. Your loyalty is to your nation. You support politicians when they do the right thing and criticize them when they do the wrong thing. They serve you. Not the other way around."Despite being a far-right political commentator, Walsh has criticized Trump multiple times in recent months. He questioned the Iran war and the rising fuel prices. He also criticized Trump's campaign to change the name of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to SI (Super Intelligence). Also Read: "Weirdest political hill to die on": Matt Walsh reacts after Trump posts about banning use of the term artificial intelligence
