Mehdi Hasan has slammed Donald Trump after his recent comments about Somalian people in the United States. He labeled his speech racist and compared him to British journalist Piers Morgan.

Trump has made numerous comments about Somalia and Somalian people in the US ahead of the midterm elections. This stemmed from the controversy surrounding U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota. She was born in Somalia before moving to the US and becoming a citizen.

The POTUS has slammed her in recent weeks and taken aim at Somalian people in the US. During a rally last week, he said (via Aaron Rupar):

"So they talked about Somalia, bringing people in from Somalia, bringing people in from all these terrible places. Somalia. You know, 98% of the people that we have here now in Somalia don't work. They don't really have to work 'cause they steal so much."
"They own Mercedes-Benz. Can you believe low IQ, and they live better than you do? I don't know what's going on. Maybe they're not as, maybe they're not as low as we think, but, but think of it, 98%, and others also," he added.

Journalist Mehdi Hasan slammed him and quoted this video on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, October 25, writing:

"He sounds like a neo-Nazi @piersmorgan, not sure how you can continue to feign outrage over that description. What else would you call your pal’s rhetoric here? It’s pure white supremacist, Neo-Nazi racism."

In Minnesota, the Democratic candidate Peggy Flanagan is up against the Republican Michele Tafoya, and others, for the US Senate.

Mehdi Hasan continues to slam Donald Trump for his speeches on Abdul El-Sayed

Abdul El-Sayed is the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from Michigan, and he's up against his Republican counterpart, Mike Rogers. During the campaign ahead of the midterm elections, Donald Trump has taken numerous digs at El-Sayed. He's said his name wrong, made comments about his religion, and much more.

In a Truth Social post over the weekend, the POTUS labeled El-Sayed a "jihadist". Mehdi Hasan slammed this post and the US legacy media, writing on X:

"If we had a legacy media that gave a damn about racism, or even just basic consistency, this would be a huge story and Trump would be asked endlessly about his racism and smears and every Republican candidate would be asked to condemn and disavow."
"Meanwhile the Republican president of the United States constantly smears a Muslim Democratic candidate as a ‘terrorist,’ and incites violence against him, and 90% of elected Democrats say nothing. Yet more normalization of Islamophobia. But hey, let’s have some more Congressional hearings on ‘antisemitic’ college students holding anti-Israel signs," he added.

Trump also said that El-Sayed "should never be allowed" inside the Capitol Hill. Mehdi Hasan responded to this in another post, alleging that the POTUS allowed "violent insurrectionists - including killers and pedophiles and Nazis" to enter the Capitol Hill.

This was in reference to the US Capitol Hill attacks on January 6, 2021, after Joe Biden won the presidential election.
