Congresswoman Nancy Mace clapped back at Lindsay Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, after he invoked her name in the courtroom while defending his comments about the holdout juror.After the Lindsay Clancy case ended in a mistrial over a hung jury earlier this month, several jurors and Lindsay Clancy's defense lawyer appeared in media interviews, where the decision of the lone holdout juror was brought into question. On Tuesday, a status hearing was held in court to decide the future course of the case. Before the hearing began, the prosecution reportedly filed a motion for a gag order to prevent "prejudicial extrajudicial statements." The defense also filed a motion to make juror notes and sidebar discussions public.During the arguments, the prosecution requested that any motion regarding the individual juror information be protected and the jury's right to privacy be maintained and objected to any hearing where the information about the holdout juror would be discussed. Kevin Reddington fired back at the prosecution and said:"I am so tired of hearing persecution and attacking. I am doing all these terrible things to this juror. I filed one motion and said nothing. Every comment I have made has been in reaction to people from Donald Trump on down to Nancy Mace down to Cruz, not the DA, but the politician calling for her execution. I have responded to these outlandish comments, including the guy from Houston."Rep. Nancy Mace, who has repeatedly called for a death penalty for Lindsay Clancy and praised the holdout juror, reacted to Reddington's comment via an X post and said:"Kevin Reddington defended a killer. I’m calling for the execution of one. Appreciated the shoutout in court this morning, Kevin, but we are not the same."The congressmember added another comment below her post and remarked:"Lindsay Clancy's attorney tried to pretend he didn't target the lone juror, when in fact, in his comments in court, he was targeting the lone juror. I would never hire an attorney with that kind of lapse in memory (or judgment)."Nancy Mace alleges Lindsay Clancy's lawyer "played a part" in attacks on the holdout jurorDuring the status hearing on Tuesday, Mace appeared on CNN, where the host played a clip from court in which Kevin Reddington invoked her name and denied making comments about the holdout juror. When the host asked for Mace's reaction, she replied:"I would never hire an attorney like Kevin Reddington with that kind of lapse in memory. He forgets that he targeted the lone juror in court in his comments calling him that guy. We saw then his wife in multiple social media posts, even sharing the NBC News story outing the juror, talking about private facts and information about the lone juror. I believe the lone juror was targeted. I believe that Kevin Reddington played a part in that."Nancy Mace argued that a gag order must be placed on Lindsay Clancy's defense attorney until the court makes its decision on a retrial. The Republican lawmaker continued slamming Reddington later in the day in a series of X posts.As reported by the BBC, on Tuesday, Lindsay Clancy's defense argued that the prosecution could not provide evidence that she killed her children and asked for the dismissal of the case. In the next hearing on November 2, the court will proceed with this motion, along with other requests from the prosecution and the defense. As of now, the prosecution has reportedly not decided whether it will pursue a retrial in the case.
