The Daily Wire has reacted to a clip of Donald Trump mentioning the outlet. The POTUS appeared to hit out at a reporter, but retracted his statement after realizing the name of the outlet. On Monday, October 19, The Daily Wire's Mary Margaret Olohan questioned Trump about French President Emmanuel Macron's recent comments. She said that Macron “is blaming the Iran war and you [Trump], essentially, for the rioting in France right now."The POTUS cut her off and said:“I don’t think he is. No, I think that’s fake news. Who are you with?”When Margaret said her name and the outlet's name, he responded:“Oh, The Daily Wire is good. Sorry. Daily Wire is good.”The White House Rapid Response page shared this clip on X (formerly Twitter). The Daily Wire quoted this clip and wrote:"New favorite Trump quote just dropped"Meanwhile, Margaret's question appeared to stem from the recent protests in France regarding rising costs, poor living conditions, and schools. On Sunday, Macron condemned the violence in the country, but added that he understood the reason for the protests. He said (via Fox News):“These demonstrators expressed concern about the cost of living and the price of fuel. Both are driven by the conflict launched in the Persian Gulf, a conflict in which France has taken no part but whose consequences we are suffering.”He referenced the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, which began earlier this year. He labeled Emmanuel Macron "a friend of mine", but added:“I told him a long time ago, you’re making a big mistake in France. You’re letting everybody from the world come in. His borders are a problem, and he also has a little bit of a problem with energy.”The POTUS has spoken about the ongoing issue in France multiple times. He has also used the opportunity to speak about immigration and other issues while campaigning ahead of the midterm elections. During a rally in Kansas on Monday, October 19, he said:“If you want to see what is at stake in this election, just look at what’s happening in France."He said that France was once a great nation, but it has been “conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and communists”. He added:“This is what’s happening to France, they want to happen to our country. It’s never happening here.”He also shared a Truth Social post on Saturday, writing:"France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!"Meanwhile, the protests in France began due to an alleged poor schooling situation, teacher shortage, and an opaque university admissions system. However, it soon grew into protests about the rising cost of living, fuel prices, and other grievances.
