New trailer for Supergirl reveals Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El teaming up with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey

Supergirl, which follows Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Kal-El / Superman / Clark Kent, is set to be premiered in theatres on June 26, 2026.The official trailer of the film has revealed that Kara will be teaming up with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey. The plot of the film revolves around Kara, who unlike Kal-El had to witness the end of their planet Krypton before being sent away for safety.

But when Krem of the Yellow Hills fatally wounds Krypto, Kara has to go on a mission to not only take revenge, but also find the cure that can heal Krypto, which the Brigands carry with them. On this journey, she is not only accompanied by Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose father was killed by Krem, but also an unlikely companion, Lobo.

Kara has lost her planet, her parents, and her people, and Krypto is the only family she has now. The trailer shows us how Krem of the Yellow Hills shoots Krypto with something life-taking. As Kara is trying to save him, she comes across Ruthye Marye Knoll, a girl from another destroyed planet whose father was killed by Krem. She wants revenge, and so does Kara. Besides, they need to find Krem and his Brigands within three days, as they have the cure to save Krypto’s life. Kara and Ruth thus embark on a journey to take revenge.

The new official trailer of the film also shows another unlikely companion to Kara, and thus to Ruth as well. Lobo (played by Jason Momoa), from Czarnia, is,

the most brutally effective bounty hunter in the galaxy.

according to DC Comics. We see him in the trailer for the first time when Kara is fighting off Krem’s Brigands. He later joins them on his rocket-like motorcycle to fight off Krem and his Brigands, who are human traffickers and also space pirates and need to pay for the atrocities they have committed.

Other than Alcock and Momoa, Supergirl also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll, Diarmaid Murtagh as Drom Baxton, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and David Corenswet in a guest role as Kara’s cousin Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman.

The film is written by Ana Nogueira for the screen, based on the DC comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. DC Studios, Troll Court Entertainment, and The Safran Company are behind the production of the film. Warner Bros. Pictures is the distribution company.

Supergirl is set to be released in theatres on June 26, 2026.
