Rapper Nicki Minaj is now a Trump “gold card” holder. This card allows individuals a residency permit. Investors get a fast-track way to their citizenship if they hold this card. In an X post on January 29, the Trinidadian rapper wrote:

“Residency? Residency? The cope is coping. Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President. Thanks to the petition. I wouldn’t have done it without you. Oh CitizenNIKA you are thee moment Gold Trump card free of charge.”

On January 28, a Trump summit event was held. Nicki Minaj was also present. The President asked her to come to the stage. After that, she said:

“I don't know what to say, but I will say that I am probably the president's number one fan and that's not going to change. And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more and it's going to motivate all of us to support him more. We're not going to let them get away with bullying him and you know the smear campaigns. It's not going to work. Okay? He has a lot of force behind him and God is protecting him.”

Before her speech, Trump said that Nicki Minaj earned a lot of money, even if it was not as much as some other wealthy people. He said she was being generous by putting a large amount of her own money into Trump accounts to help children, especially the children of her fans. He praised her for supporting her own community and said he thought she was doing something great.

Why was Nicki Minaj under fire recently?

In December 2025, Nicki Minaj became the topic of discussion after she showed her support for the Trump administration. According to USA Today, a Change.org petition was launched, which urged the government to review Minaj’s legal status. Not only that, but people also suggested that she should be deported to Trinidad. The petition read:

“Deporting Nicki Minaj back to Trinidad would serve as a reminder that public figures need to be accountable for their words and the broader impact they have on diverse communities. It's not just about one person's fall from grace; it's about holding everyone to a standard of compassion and consistency, especially when they possess significant influence.”

The petition also criticized Minaj’s views towards the queer community. This happened after Minaj attended a Turning Point USA conference where her comments were deemed problematic. As per the petition:

“These statements aren't just insensitive; they undermine the very foundations of a community that looked up to her for advocacy and understanding. Her public platform carries weight and responsibility, and her recent statements are a stark contrast to the solidarity she once showed, leaving many feeling deflated and disillusioned.”

In 2018, Nicki Minaj said that she came to the US as an illegal immigrant at the age of just five. Her comment came while she was discussing Trump’s policies.
