Exploring Trump’s scathing remarks at a Reuters reporter

Earlier this week, Donald Trump canceled his trip to Kansas at the last minute amid his ongoing midterm campaign tour. Reuters White House correspondent Jacob Bogage asked the POTUS on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews:

“How's your health? You not going to Kansas has nothing to do with you being sick of traveling?”

The question appeared to strike a nerve with the 80-year-old U.S. President, who snarled:

“Oh, you're sick to ask that question. You are sick. Who are you with?"

When Bogage replied, “I am with Reuters, sir,” Trump continued to say:

“You are a sick guy. Reuters is terrible, by the way. Can you imagine? Look at this—look at this guy. He's way out of shape. Look at that, how badly—he comes to me, 'Sir, you're not going to Kansas.' I'm not going to Kansas because he's [Republican Senator Roger Marshall] doing very well.”

The POTUS added:

“You've been following me for two weeks. I feel perfect. You are disgusting. Put yourself in shape. You look like h*ll.”

According to The Daily Beast, Trump is “overweight at 238 pounds” and “less than two pounds shy of being classified as obese.” Meanwhile, the White House announced after the President’s physical in May that he was 6’3” tall, 238 pounds, with a BMI of 29.7. His staff also maintains that he is in “good” health, both physically and psychologically.

Trump also told The Wall Street Journal earlier this year that he wasn’t interested in working out other than playing golf.

“I just don't like it. It's boring. To walk on a treadmill or run on a treadmill for hours and hours as some people do, that's not for me,” he said back then.

The POTUS also continues to claim that he is “the healthiest President that has ever lived,” while concerns about his health continue to surface online. Since he took office for his second term in January 2025, Donald Trump has been seen with bruised hands (covered with makeup), swollen legs, arms, and ankles, knock-knees, neck rashes, slurred speech, and sleepiness in public.

White House physician Captain Sean Barbabella also noted:

“There are no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness. He is in excellent health and exhibits cognitive and physical health.”

The U.S. President canceled his campaign rally in Salina, Kansas, and chose to hold a virtual “tele-rally” to support incumbent Senator Roger Marshall against Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton. The latest CNN poll revealed Hamilton was leading Marshall by four percent.
