Kanye West is set to perform at the 2026 Wireless Festival. Not only is he part of the festival, but he will also be headlining three shows.

However, due to his past behavior and comments that are known to be racist, anti-Se**tic, and pro-N*zi, the local government does not want to be associated with the decision of choosing the rapper.

London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan's spokesperson, explained how City Hall has distanced themselves from this decision. They told Variety,

“We are clear that the past comments and actions of this artist are offensive and wrong, and are simply not reflective of London’s values. This was a decision taken by the festival organizers and not one that City Hall is involved in.”

But they are not the only ones against Kanye West's comeback to London after 11 years. The Jewish Leadership Council told The Guardian,

“West has repeatedly used his platform to spread antisemitism and pro-Nazi messaging … Any venue or festival should reconsider before providing their platform to Kanye West to spread his antisemitism.”

Even though the festival has used its long return as a marketing tactic, parts of the internet are not happy with it. Kanye West himself, though, is on an apparent path of redemption. Before the recent release of his 12th studio album, Bully, he took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal where he apologized for his previous behaviors, including his controversial music and rants.

He explained, “I lost touch with reality. Things got worse the longer I ignored the problem. I said and did things I deeply regret. Some of the people I love the most, I treated the worst. You endured fear, confusion, humiliation, and the exhaustion of trying to have someone who was, at times, unrecognizable. Looking back, I became detached from my true self.”

The festival is set to take place from July 10 to 12 at Finsbury Park, London.
