The American multi-hyphenate Dolly Parton passed away on August 25. The news of her passing was shared by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, through a video shared on Parton’s IG handle. The veteran singer reportedly died following a brief battle with cancer. Dolly Parton took her last breath at the age of 80.

As soon as the news of Parton’s death came out, the internet was flooded with tributes for her. From President Trump to Eminem, several artists remembered Dolly. The president even ordered the lowering of the American flag for one week throughout the US in her honor.

Among others, Miley Cyrus also shared a heartfelt tribute for Dolly Parton after her death. The Flowers vocalist referred to her as ‘Aunt Dolly’. She shared that most of her ‘sacred’ moments with Dolly Parton happened behind-the-scenes.

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.” Miley Cyrus wrote.

She further dubbed Parton as an ‘angel’ by her side.

“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.” Miley added.

Lastly, Miley Cyrus said that she will always love Dolly.

“I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.” Miley Cyrus added.

For those unaware, Dolly and Miley's bond grew stronger as the late icon made several guest appearances on her show, Hannah Montana. They even performed together at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Miley also collaborated on Dolly's holiday album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, released in 2020.

Earlier this January, Dolly dropped a new version of Light of a Clear Blue Morning with Miley.
