On June 3, content creator Jesse Ridgway shared that he and his wife decided to terminate their pregnancy because the baby had Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome. The YouTuber faced online criticism after he shared the news. Conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey also responded to Jesse’s decision on X. She shared his post and showed her disagreement with Jesse Ridgway’s choice to abort a pregnancy due to Down Syndrome.Allie Beth Stuckey wrote:“Imagine a post like this, but instead of referring to an unborn baby, he’s referring to his Down Syndrome toddler. Everyone would be aghast and enraged. She said that sympathetic language can’t mask the reality of ‘killing’ a baby.“Yet the only differences between a toddler and an unborn baby are age and location. These aren’t reasons to kill someone outside the womb, so they don’t work as reasons to kill someone inside the womb, either. No euphemisms or sympathetic language can mask the reality that killing a baby is brutal, painful, and evil.”Allie went on to say that those with special needs are no less valuable and no less deserving.“People with special needs are no less valuable - and therefore no less deserving of life - than people without special needs.”Lastly, Stuckey referred to the baby as the ‘victim.’ She said that the baby deserves all the advocacy, not Jesse and his wife.“Despite Jesse’s attempt to center this murder on his and his wife’s feelings, the truth is, in every abortion scenario, the primary - and typically only - victim is the baby. He or she deserves all of our sympathy and advocacy.”Jesse Ridgway responded to online backlashJesse Ridgway received a lot of backlash after he came out with the news of abortion. While some people supported him, others sent hate messages. In response, Jesse spoke out in a recent post, calling the online comments “deeply disturbing.”“I’ve never seen such hate and vitriol for two people grieving the loss of their unborn child and making an impossible decision.”Jesse Ridgway revealed that he has been getting several death threats.“The last 24 hours have exposed a side of humanity that is deeply disturbing. Being called “murderous pieces of shit, evil, compared to Hitler” and receiving NON-STOP DEATH THREATS.”Jesse further said that many people suggested he could have kept the baby and given it up for adoption later. He also said that even people without babies are criticizing their decision.“So many saying they would’ve kept the child, put it up for adoption or are suddenly ready to adopt a down syndrome child, that’s great! You can do all those things. However, many of the people throwing stones don’t even have children, let alone one with a condition and most likely will never do the things they say they’re going to do.”Jesse Ridgway tied the knot with Ashley in October last year.
