Fox News’ Jesse Watters appeared on the talk show The Five on November 4 and shared his opinion about the Republicans’ midterm loss and how Donald Trump came up short on his promises. Jesse stated:“The President took a bullet for us. He is a legend. God loves him. But I think people also don’t like watching billionaires spend $70 million on a wedding or play around at the White House or fly their wives on joyrides in outer space. They don’t like that. So, they seized the data centers and held it for ransom.”Watters was referencing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ multimillion-dollar wedding in Venice in 2025. Bezos' aerospace company, Blue Origin, also sent his wife Lauren Sánchez to outer space months before the wedding. He continued by claiming that the base was "depressed" when the Epstein Files release was “bungled” or when Charlie Kirk’s death “turned people against each other.”“There were a lot of people who voted for a dictator… He wanted to be a dictator on day one. A lot of people said, ‘Good, lock up the crooked, deport the whole country.’ But that didn’t happen, and that’s why the base didn’t show up in, like, South Carolina and Mississippi. Ripe environment for a drubbing. But these things go up and down.”Exploring further Jesse Watters’ reaction to the midterm election resultsAccording to Jesse Watters, both the trade war with China and the Iran war cost the Republicans the midterm election. He said that while they were “noble goals,” they were also “five-year deals.”“Maybe Republicans learned their lesson that if you’re going to make life more expensive for people, you’re not going to be able to sell it. And if you can’t sell it, you’re going to pay for it… If you’re going to make young people struggle, live paycheck-to-paycheck, have to pay more for stuff and make it harder for them to climb the ladder, it’s not going to go well,” Jesse claimed. The conservative journalist further claimed that the only people who Trump “really won over” were over 65 and had no mortgage, multiple investments in the stock market, and could “see the bigger picture.”“The coalition is totally collapsed. I mean, you lost whites. Whites! You can’t do that if you’re a Republican. Men. Hispanics, big time. And, so it’s going to take a while to put the coalition back together,” Watters opined.Jesse Watters claimed that the “bigger picture” was that young men and White Americans said “Screw you” to both Donald Trump and the GOP by not voting for them, even in the Midwest and Deep South, which didn’t just happen overnight.“This was a spanking. I mean, this was a severe spanking,” Watters shared. He also used a similar phrase during his solo segment called Jesse Watters Primetime.“Can’t sugarcoat it; Republicans got spanked,” Jesse began his episode. The 48-year-old host offered a lengthier analysis of the midterm results.“Democrats have him right where they want him: a lame duck against big majorities and his base not as loyal. That and about a half dozen Republicans about to announce their presidential campaigns in a pretty wicked environment,” Jesse Watters stated. He specifically focused on the losses in Texas and California, claiming they would cost the country in the AI arms race, data centers, and border security. Calling it the “worst-case scenario,” Jesse Watters explained:“In the long-term history… we believe President Trump will be judged as a bold and consequential leader. But in the short term, voters delivered judgment day and it was no bueno. That’s life when you’re President. Trump’s unbridled ambition will make America great again, but today, he is humbled… Trump and the Republicans got punished severely. Corruption was also a motivator.”On Tuesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that if he were on the ballot, Republicans would have won in a “landslide.” In another post, he shared an image of a red baseball cap with the words “VETO” written on it, hinting that he intended to veto Democratic legislation.
