On October 9, President Trump welcomed Katie Zacharia as the new White House Press Secretary weeks after Karoline Leavitt stepped down from her post. The POTUS shared a post on Truth Social to introduce Katie. Trump stated that the new secretary currently serves as the Senior Communications Advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group. Previously, Katie Zacharia worked as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for Public Affairs at the Homeland Security Department.

In his post, Trump wrote:

“It is my Great Honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia. Katie currently serves as Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social (Trump Media & Technology Group), where she has been outstanding! A native of California, Katie previously served as Spokesperson and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security.”

The president further shared details about Katie’s educational background. Zacharia has even been a commentator for Newsmax and Fox News. Trump wrote:

“Katie is a distinguished Graduate of Pepperdine University and the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, an attorney, and a frequent Commentator on outlets, including Fox News and Newsmax.”

Katie Zacharia has been part of Trump’s previous campaigns

In his latest post, the POTUS further highlighted that Katie has been his supporter and even involved in his previous campaigns. He wrote:

“She was previously involved in my Campaigns, assisting in key Swing States, where we won 7 out of 7. She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA! I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our Country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the Media, the American People, and my Administration.”

Katie responded to Trump's post and said it would be the honor of a lifetime for her to work with the president.

Katie Zacharia is replacing Karoline Leavitt, who resigned from the office of White House Press Secretary on August 27 this year. Leavitt held the office from January 2025 to August 2026 and became the youngest ever to hold this position.

Most recently, Karoline announced that she will be joining Fox News as an on-air contributor from November this year.
