Claressa Shields has voiced her dissent against Jake Paul's comment about Bad Bunny being a "fake American citizen."

Bad Bunny took to the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8, 2026, to headline the halftime performance. During this time, Jake Paul took to X to inform his fans he was switching his TV off:

"Purposefully turning off the halftime show. Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them) You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that," he wrote on X.

Shields, however, pushed back on this rhetoric:

"Please Jake, not today. Puerto Ricans are not fake citizens. You would think that you of all people would support this as you have so many Puerto Rican women under your umbrella. What’s happening with ICE is terrible and we shouldn’t want to see harm done to anyone who is apart of America & a minority! Do better Jake. This isn’t right."

In a follow-up tweet on X, Jake Paul clarified his sentiments about Bad Bunny:

"The problem with my tweet is the word fake being misinterpreted. he's not a fake citizen obviously bc hes Puerto Rican and I love Puerto Rico and all Americans who support the country. Moreso Bunny is fake bc of his values and criticism of our great country."

His tweet follows his voiced dissent against Hunter Hess, who said earlier this week during a press conference that he had "mixed emotions" about representing the U.S. as a freestyle skier at this year's Winter Olympics. He was referring to the status quo, which includes ICE crackdowns and geopolitical crises.

"Wow pls shut the fuck up," Jake Paul penned. "From all true Americans. If you don’t want to represent this country go live somewhere else."

During the press conference, Hess said:

“There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of, and I think a lot of people aren’t. I think for me it’s more I’m representing my friends and family back home, the people that represented it before me, all the things that I believe are good about the US … Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the US.”

Jake Paul's brother, Logan, however, took to X to express an opposing opinion:

"I love my brother, but I don’t agree with this. Puerto Ricans are Americans, and I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island.”

Notably, MMA fighter Sean Strickland also weighed in on Hess' comments as he took to X to slam him:

"Hunter Hess is a bitch..... Get the fuck out of this country we dont want you here....." he wrote. "Bout to throw some fucking hands.... gay ass skier.....Fucking bitch....." In another tweet, he said, "Thank god ill never be around him........ Lol that's how you catch a case"

As of this writing, Hess has yet to respond to the comments.
