Reba McEntire’s tribute to Dolly Parton

Following her friend's death, Reba McEntire took to Instagram to honor the decades-long friendship, sharing snippets of their moments together through the years.

She accompanied the throwback snaps with a heartfelt message of her grief, writing:

“Well, I just got the news that my buddy Dolly passed onto the higher and greater side. Dolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth. Your love, your music and you gave so much with your huge huge heart. There will never ever be another you. We will remember and cherish every memory and every note you ever played and sang.”

The singer went on:

“Thank you, Lord, for Dolly. She’s gonna have a blast in heaven singing all her favorite songs with all her family and friends who have gone on before her. I’ll never forget the first time I met you and I’ll never forget our last conversation. I hold it with love in my heart.”

Reba McEntire concluded her tribute with one final message to Dolly Parton.

“I will always love you.”

More about the upcoming Emmys

The Emmys will also feature a guest appearance from New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson. He is expected to appear in a pre-recorded segment at the beginning of the telecast.

Brunson’s appearance has a connection to this year’s host, Mariska Hargitay. The Law & Order: SVU star is a longtime Knicks supporter and has frequently been seen sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden.

Hargitay was asked about the possibility of Brunson appearing during an interview ahead of the ceremony but did not confirm whether the basketball star would take part.

While Brunson’s role is being kept under wraps, McEntire’s performance is set to provide one of the evening’s most emotional moments as the Emmys pay tribute to Parton.

The ceremony will give viewers a chance to remember the country icon through one of the songs that helped define her extraordinary career, performed by another legendary voice in country music.
