Private texts from Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds have been made public. A rep for the actor spoke out regarding the texts that were part of the legal battle with Justin Baldoni, where Reynolds defended his wife. The actor's representative gave a statement to Puck News.

"Yes, Ryan got involved, what husband wouldn't support his wife and the mother of his children?" the representative said.

The spokesperson said Ryan Reynolds saw what was happening when Lively fought daily to stand up against se*ual harassment in a private and respectful way.

"He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against se*ual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so," the spokesperson said.

Ryan Reynolds believed he wasn't angry enough. The representative talked about his stance on workplace safety.

"If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn't angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always," the spokesperson added.

As per a report shared by the Daily Mail on January 23, 2026, newly-unsealed text messages showed Ryan Reynolds defending his wife, Blake Lively. The texts were part of the litigation between Lively and Justin Baldoni. Ryan Reynolds sent the messages to agent Warren Zavala on August 9, 2024.

Ryan Reynolds praised Lively for the success of It Ends with Us at the box office.

"She WILLED this weekend into reality," Reynolds said.

The actor criticized Baldoni and his team in the texts. Ryan Reynolds said they needed to address the rumors and speculation about tension on set themselves.

"Baldoni and these other buckets of dumb-dumb-juice should be acknowledging the speculation and gossip themselves. They should be jumping in front of it in the most full throated, unqualified way. Now," said Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds talked about how to protect his wife from negative press. He didn't want Lively to be seen as difficult or demanding.

"She should not be subjected to some eye-roll-y narrative of the 'controlling b***h,'" Reynolds stated.

Ryan Reynolds said Baldoni and his team needed to take responsibility and protect Lively.

"They can and should accept the consequences of their actions and lean into the countless and willfully gross behavior before it leans into them. They made a big f***ing mess. Blake - under NO CIRCUMSTANCES - should be asked to clean up this sloppy, cliched f***storm," Reynolds said.

Ryan Reynolds expressed his frustration about the timing. He felt Lively deserved to celebrate her achievement.

"I'm super frustrated because this is a moment in which Blake should be celebrating. She made this unbelievable win happen. She made this a win for Sony and by proxy, Wayfarer," shared Reynolds.

Blake Lively sued her co-star-director Justin Baldoni in December 2024, and as per a report shared by People, she alleged se*ual harassment and retaliation.

Baldoni denied the allegations, while Lively sought over $160 million in damages. Baldoni's countersuit against Lively and Reynolds has since been dismissed by the judge. He had accused them of defamation and extortion.

Baldoni's legal team has maintained that they believe Lively and Reynolds used their status in Hollywood to smear him.

"This is a case about two of the most powerful stars in the world deploying their enormous power to steal an entire film right out of the hands of its director and production studio. Then, when Lively and Reynolds' efforts failed to win them the acclaim they believed they so richly deserved, they turned their fury on their chosen scapegoat," Baldoni's lawyers claimed in his countersuit.

Sigrid McCawley is Lively's attorney. She gave a statement on January 22 about the unsealed materials.

"The overwhelming evidence revealed by the unsealed materials shows that women in every role on set — from producers, to writers, to cast, to crew — experienced what they believed was inappropriate conduct. Baldoni's team dismissed them as 'trivial,' but there is nothing trivial about sexual harassment," McCawley said.

Baldoni was dropped by his agency WME in December 2024 after news of Lively's lawsuit. WME responded to allegations in January 2025 that Reynolds had pressured Baldoni's agent at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere.

"This is not true. Baldoni's former representative was not at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere nor was there any pressure from Reynolds or Lively at any time to drop Baldoni as a client," WME said.

Ryan Reynolds' wife reached out to former costar Ben Affleck for help with Justin Baldoni on It Ends With Us. Us Weekly obtained the documents that showed an alleged email from Lively to Affleck in May 2024. Affleck's name is redacted in the documents. She asked him to watch the movie and share any ideas or notes about her version of the film.

Lively described her experience making the movie in the alleged email.

"I've just come out the other side (well almost) of the most upsetting experience I've ever had on a movie. The making of doc of this film would be more interesting than the movie could ever be. It's like if Wild Wild Country, Fyre Festival and Going Clear had a baby with The Room … Room also works though," said Lively.

Lively seemed to reference Baldoni in the email without naming him. She provided more information as the email went on.

"Anyway, I ended up rewriting and restructuring the entire script, I also ended up having to direct the movie via the chaotic clown 'director'/actor/producer/financier/studio head at the center. Yes that's all the same person," Lively wrote.

The trial is scheduled for May 2026 in New York.
