ExtraEmily, a Twitch streamer, has once again found herself at the center of controversy when the platform suspended her account following a viral video that appeared to show her nearly crashing while livestreaming and driving. This happened on June 28, and the clip took no time to go viral on social media. A user commented:

“Should be permanent.”

The suspension comes a year after ExtraEmily was banned from Twitch for one day for another distracted-driving incident while streaming.

Why was ExtraEmily banned from Twitch?

ExtraEmily was banned after a video clip from her livestream on June 28 showed her looking away from the road while performing a left turn.

About an hour and twenty-five minutes into the broadcast, a Mazda SUV approached from the opposite direction, while Emily appeared to be looking at her phone rather than the road. Moments before the vehicles collided, she corrected her steering as the other driver honked, preventing an accident. Fortunately, neither car sustained damage, and no one was harmed.

Immediately after this happened, Emily admitted she was at fault, saying:

“Oh, sorry! My bad! That was my bad. I’ve got to check my… whoopsies!”

She even thanked the driver for honking at the last second, which prevented the accident.

Later in the live stream, Emily said that she had earlier driven with Tesla's Autopilot activated but had turned it off just before the incident took place:

"I had autopilot on, and then I literally switched it off. Hmm... and then that's when that happened, bro."

Soon after, users noticed that her Twitch channel was disabled due to a violation of Twitch's Community Guidelines, as per the platform's standard notice. Twitch's rules explicitly forbid streamers from distracted driving. Any action where the streamer takes their eyes off the road, or their hands off the steering wheel, will result in an automatic account suspension.

This incident reminded the internet of Emily's similar incident back in 2025, when ExtraEmily appeared to drive through a red light while focusing on her phone. She later stated on Discord that her Twitch account had been suspended for one day due to distracted driving during the livestream.

The recent incident marks the second driving-related suspension. Several social media users urged that Twitch should impose heavier punishments for repeated violations.

The internet reacts to Twitch banning ExtraEmily

Following the announcement of the ban, many users claimed that Twitch's suspension was reasonable, with some pushing for a much longer or even permanent ban due to the regularity of the incidents. A user commented:

"Should be permanent."

Another commenter joked that some creators needed lessons on basic responsibility before livestreaming:

"Streamers need to go to how to be a human University before becoming a streamer."

A user believes ExtraEmily would return to Twitch within days, arguing that the term "banned" has lost meaning:

"Banned has lost its meaning. She’ll be back in a week. Call it a suspension."

Another had a similar sentiment, writing:

"Only gonna be a 7 day ban at most lmao."

A user felt the situation could have been avoided if creators did not stream and drive at the same time:

"Maybe we don’t stream and drive."

Another user questioned why Emily was still permitted to drive despite the numerous instances:

"But she still got her license tho."

A user highlighted the seriousness of the near crash, claiming that her actions put other drivers in danger:

"Well deserved. She was driving, chatting and texting on her phone at the same time. Almost hit an uncoming vehicle. Irresponsible behaviour."

Another advocated for a complete ban on driving and streaming on Twitch, citing safety concerns that exceeded the entertainment value:

"Am I the only one who thinks driving and streaming should be banned for real. that clip was actually scary but shes gonna get unbanned in a week anyway because twitch ceo lets girls slide every time."

A third went a step further, claiming Twitch only responded because the video received extensive exposure on social media:

"It's only because people were talking about it. Twitch would've acted blind to the situation like they usually do when it comes to girl streamers."

The ban of ExtraEmily on Twitch continues to fuel conversation on social media about road safety and responsibility.
