Mckenna Grace is setting the record straight after her comments about turning down roles involving nudity and hypersexual content went viral, clarifying that her personal boundaries have nothing to do with her ambition to play a Disney princess.

The 20-year-old Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping actress addressed the discussion in a statement shared on her Instagram Stories after excerpts from her new Cosmopolitan cover story circulated online.

In the interview, Mckenna Grace was asked whether she would turn down any roles.

“At this point, I definitely don’t do nudity or very hypersexual things. I respect anybody who can, but it’s terrifying to me. I don’t know if that’ll ever change.”

The young actress added:

“It’s not like I only do wholesome things — my character literally gets gutted by Ghostface in Scream — but my dream is to try and be a Disney princess someday.”

The comments sparked headlines linking her reluctance to take on nude roles with her Disney princess aspirations.

Now, Mckenna Grace is clarifying that the two statements are separate.

“The two quotes being used right now in these titles are unrelated. I said at this point in my career I think I’m uncomfortable doing something but I respect everyone who does – and I also have a dream job!”

She went on to say that her discomfort with nude scenes is not because of her Disney princess dream, but because of her own personal boundaries. She explained:

“I’m not uncomfortable doing nude scenes [or] hyper sexual roles simply because ‘I want to be a Disney princess,’ it’s just because of my own personal boundaries and the level of comfortability I have with that sort of thing right now at this point in my life!”

Mckenna Grace also expressed surprise at the attention surrounding her remarks.

“Silly that it’s become such a source of conversation! So many more important things to talk about.”

Mckenna Grace plays Maysilee Donner in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

The remarks come as the Hunger Games prequel Sunrise on the Reaping is set to premiere in theatres on Nov. 20.

Grace stars as Maysilee Donner, the original owner of the mockingjay pin, which later gets passed down to Madge Undersee and eventually Katniss Everdeen.

According to Grace, Maysilee Donner is a “very put together” person who has hidden rage.

“She’s very put together, and she’s this little darling, with her little ribbons and her bows and her purple dress. But she’s just so angry and biting. She’s like [Catching Fire and Mockingjay’s] Johanna Mason with her anger. Except with a little bit more lace and ribbons.”
