“So the dictator is at it again”: Dolly Parton’s sister Stella Parton reacts to Trump threatening ABC over Jimmy Kimmel's James Talarico interview

Stella Parton has made multiple headlines this week. The younger sister of the late Dolly Parton, who is seventy-seven years old, has been in the news for a number of reasons, from sharing that no Nashville artists have reached out to her since her sister's passing last month, to commenting on a Threads post regarding President Donald Trump's Federal Communications Commission threatening Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC, their affiliates, and local stations.

The post that caught Stella's attention had the following caption,

"Jimmy Kimmel's interview with James Talarico has been censored and will not air on television today after Trump threatened ABC."

As per a report shared by Rolling Stone, Jimmy Kimmel confirmed during his Wednesday monologue that his interview with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico would not be airing on broadcast television. Instead, it has been relegated to YouTube, out of consideration for ABC's local affiliates in Texas.

Stella Parton is active on her threads profile. She shares flower pictures for her followers and has even shared her thoughts about American politics. Stella has more than eighty-thousand followers on her profile.

Stella Parton opens up about receiving no condolences from Nashville since Dolly Parton's passing:

In an interview with CBS Mornings, Stella shared that not a single person from the Nashville music community has reached out to her since her sister's passing last month.

"I haven't heard from anybody in Nashville since my sister passed away. I haven't had one condolence from anyone — anybody that I know, entertainers that I know. Nobody. Not one," she said.

As per a report shared by Entertainment Weekly, Stella is an accomplished musician in her own right, with over twenty albums in her discography, so she certainly has no shortage of Nashville connections. That being said, she believes her vocal criticism of the Trump administration on social media may have something to do with the industry's silence.

"I'm assuming it might be because of my political, you know, activism on social media. I don't know," she added.

That criticism has been far from subtle. Just a few days before Dolly's death, Stella took to X on Aug. 20, writing that

"We have a pimple in the White House and the pus in Congress do nothing beneficial for the citizens of this country! Strutting around with his female assistant carrying his diaper bag and soothing his every desire is gross and pathetic! He is an illegitimate President!"

Stella Parton opens up about why Dolly Parton kept her political opinions private:

During the CBS Mornings interview, Gayle King noted that the public never knew any of Dolly's political views. Stella was quick to respond, confirming that her sister did indeed have them.

"She had them," Stella said, though she refused to share what those views actually were. She then went on to explain why Dolly chose to keep her politics close to her chest.

"She would never have offended anyone. She never would have done that. She was smarter than me. You know, I tell everything. And I like everybody knowing what I think about it. Not her!" she shared.

When King pressed further and asked why Dolly kept her politics private, Stella's answer was short and straightforward.

"She's a good businesswoman," she replied.

King then asked whether Dolly shared Stella's political opinions, to which Stella shut the line of questioning down entirely.

"I will not talk about that," she said,

She later turned the tables on King with a remark.

"You think you're so clever, don't you, Gayle?"

Stella Parton opens up about Dolly Parton's final moments and the tributes that followed her death:

Stella also shared her perspective on her sister's final moments during the CBS Mornings interview, revealing what Dolly's last request was.

"The last thing Dolly asked me for was prayer," she said.

"Her optimism is what I'm gonna miss the most. She was the most optimistic person I ever met. I'm gonna miss that," she added.

Stella Parton had previously shared her complicated feelings toward the variety of tributes that Dolly received online following her death. Taking to Instagram last week, she wrote,

"First let me say, thank you to the ones of you who have shown 'genuine' support and love during this time of our family bereavement. We will be okay in time but each of us will grieve in our own personal way. Every human being experiences pain and loss in life and my family is no different."
