Clavicular has reacted to the word 'looksmaxxing' being added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. He said that it shows the impact of their movement, labeling it a positive thing for young men.On Wednesday, September 16, Merriam-Webster announced a list of new words being added to its dictionary. Many of these are based on words regularly used on the internet and social media. Some of the new words include 'Cuffing Season', 'Vibe Coding', 'Shapewear', 'Sunday scaries', 'Rickroll', 'Parasocial', 'Promposal', and more.'Looksmaxxing' has also been added to the iconic dictionary, and its definition reads:"the practice of taking one or more sometimes extreme or dangerous measures intended to increase one's physical attractiveness"Popular looksmaxxing influencer Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Eric Peters, reacted to this in an interview with TMZ, saying:"Well, that's great. That's quite exciting. So, every single time, I hear popular figures using the terminology, it's often quite funny because it's sometimes incorrect. But it goes to show the real impact behind what we're talking about because looksmaxxing is a super positive thing for young men, and the fact that it's being spread through a lot of pop culture and just this hilarious terminology, it's great. It sort of works as a vehicle for the movement."Merriam-Webster released a statement about the new additions, part of which read:“The new entries reflect words and meanings that have demonstrated widespread use over time, offering a window into the world today."The dictionary's criteria for new additions are frequent use, widespread use, and meaningful use. He named many popular names like Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed and also added Peters' name, saying:"Dude, if I’m being super transparent, if I were to come up with five people to nominate for Streamer of the Year, I would do Kai Cenat, I would do IShowSpeed, I would do Ron, I would do Jynxzi, and I would probably do Clavicular. And that might ruffle some feathers, but I do think he’s probably had the largest impact, maybe, of the list from the streaming space on culture."While many people in his chat disagreed, the looksmaxxing influencer hailed his own impact. Replying to a clip from Ludwig's stream on X (formerly Twitter) on September 12, he wrote:"Easily the biggest impact on culture, but I don't stream enough recently."Clavicular @Clavicular0LINKEasily the biggest impact on culture, but I dont stream enough recently.Notably, on September 15, an X user with the handle @Puclys shared a video of Elon Musk using the slang 'benchmarkmaxxing'.
