Megyn Kelly faced backlash from The View co-hosts when she criticized Christina Applegate for sharing her personal story regarding her health problems in light of her recent misdiagnosis with multiple sclerosis.

The media personality addressed Christina Applegate’s revelation on her own talk show, insinuating that the Emmy-winning actress was unhappy with the loss of her image as an important person with the condition.

“This is, like, the problem with celebrities like wanting to lean into their health problems.”

Megyn Kelly continued, alleging the situation was a “wild goose chase.”

"She's crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of this disease. And as she says, she's back to 'square one.' She's made a cottage industry of talking about her MS."

Her comments drew sharp responses from Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin during a discussion on The View. Goldberg said:

“So, let me ask you, ma’am, you think Christina wanted to have MS so she could have a good time? Are you crazy?”

Haines also questioned Kelly’s characterization of Applegate’s experience, asking:

“Who wants to be the face of MS? Talk about kicking someone when they’re down.”

She maintained that Christina Applegate had disclosed her condition for the benefit of others, but said Applegate was now experiencing uncertainty about her own identity following the misdiagnosis of her condition. Haines continued to say:

“Megyn Kelly sold her soul for politics.”

She then criticized Megyn Kelly’s comments and said she had lowered her opinion of the television host.

Meanwhile, Navarro went for Megyn Kelly and stated that she did not wish to speak about her at length because she was an individual who deliberately provoked rage on sensitive issues.

Haines subsequently called Kelly a “bully,” while Hostin described her as “an ugly person.”

Goldberg ended the discussion by defending Applegate’s decision to share her health journey publicly. She argued that people discuss personal experiences to connect with others and help them understand what they are going through.

“The idea that you would come out and say something like this, Megyn, is unbelievable.”

The remarks come days after Christina Applegate revealed her misdiagnosis of MS on Oct. 21, marking her return to her MesSy podcast show after several months away.

“This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one. It’s hard to say that [my doctor] came into my room and she said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS.’ You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better … If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways. So I’m back at square one, that I don’t know what’s going on with me.”

The actress tearfully added that she was still in a “state of shock,” saying:

"I feel like I let everybody down."
