On September 29, Elizabeth Warren reacted to President Trump’s meeting with tech leaders, where he mentioned ‘self-regulation’ of AI. Earlier in the day, the POTUS held an AI meeting with tech moguls like Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, Dario Amodei, and more, to officially change the name of Artificial Intelligence to Super Intelligence. Trump also signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence. At the conference, when asked about the regulation of AI, the president said that there should be focus on ‘self-regulation.’ Trump said:

“Well, there's a belief that there should be tremendous self-regulation and we automatically have regulation with the Department of Justice, the FBI, all of that. But the self-regulation is very important.”

Elizabeth Warren reacted to the president’s idea of AI ‘self-regulation’. She referred to the president’s idea as a recipe for ‘disaster.’ The US Senator wrote:

“Self-regulation? That’s a recipe for disaster.”

In another tweet, Elizabeth Warren raised doubts about self-regulation by the tech companies. Therefore, she demanded laws with strong guardrails. Warren wrote:

“We can’t trust tech AI CEOs to self-regulate and keep us safe. We need to enforce the laws already on the books, and Congress must pass legislation with strong guardrails—before we face a cyberattack, economic disaster, or national security threat.”

Trump renamed Artificial Intelligence

The president officially renamed AI, which will now be known as Super Intelligence. Initially, the announcement to rename Artificial Intelligence was made during Trump’s UN speech. He claimed artificial intelligence made it look fake, so he will rename it as ‘super.’

The POTUS also signed the White House Accord and Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities together with AI-tech leaders from OpenAI, XAI, Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia, and Google. The accord contains steps to promote safe development while delivering the economic and scientific benefits of the fast-growing technology.

Dario Amodei also warned against the risks and benefits of AI after signing the accord.

In related news, the president also launched the government’s new single entry point, America.gov. The country’s citizens can access government services and information using the new portal.
