Timothée Chalamet is recalling an awkward moment on set, revealing a former co-star questioned his credentials and dismissed his training during an ensemble project.

In his Variety conversation with Matthew McConaughey, the Marty Supreme lead revealed that an unknown co-star on one of his previous projects denigrated his acting skills, allegedly due to his training background.

"No names, but the guy was a punk. He asked me what conservatory I had gone to, and I said I didn't go to an acting conservatory. And he said, 'Well, you haven't trained as an actor then.' And we were all part of an ensemble."

In spite of the insult, Timothée Chalamet shared with The Lincoln Lawyer icon that he has become used to turning a deaf ear to unsolicited remarks about his career.

"I always said, 'Beware of the people in life that get more of the advice they give you than you get at the advice.' They're thrilled by the act of giving you advice. All of a sudden you can't listen to what they're saying anymore because they're flexing on you so hard."

The two actors have worked together in the Academy Award-winning film, though Timothée Chalamet clarified that the person he was talking about wasn't Matthew McConaughey.

"You never did that to me, though, which I'm grateful for."

The Variety interview was the two stars' reunion years after starring in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar.

At the time, Timothée Chalamet was only 17, fresh out of high school, and was still internally debating whether he would continue his studies or commit to acting fully.

In the 2013 movie, he portrayed the role of Tom, the youngest of the two children of Cooper, played by McConaughey.

During the chat, the Dune lead shared how his former onscreen dad inspired him.

"I remember you had a yoga mat, and you'd be working out and sleeping on set. It was all very strange to me. But it was super inspiring. I just can't thank you enough for being warm to me at that time, when you had no reason to be warm to me. It just changed my life, man."

McConaughey was moved by the younger actor's words, responding:

"You were pretty easy to be warm to."

Chalamet, even after leading smash hit projects through the years, told McConaughey that the film remains his favorite to date.

"Man, that remains my favorite project I've ever been in. I think it's your most fantastic role. I know you were coming off 'Dallas Buyers Club,' but that movie, to me, was the origin point in seeing how you carried yourself on set, how seriously you and Christopher Nolan took the work."

The Wonka star continued:

"It gave me a license. Coming out of high school, it's hard to take yourself super seriously. You can feel like you're wasting time or stuck-up or something."
