Riley Gaines has slammed Hakeem Jeffries after the latter's dig at Stephen Miller. She accused him of throwing labels "indiscriminately" at those whose thought processes are different from his.

Donald Trump announced on November 6 that Stephen Miller will become his Chief of Staff on November 9, replacing Susie Wiles. This led to major backlash from many Democratic leaders online and in the media.

Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, slammed Miller via a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

"Stephen Miller is a dangerous xenophobe and reckless extremist who has American blood on his hands. His presence in government should be eradicated like a malignant tumor. Fire him today."

Former collegiate swimmer and conservative political activist Riley Gaines quoted Jeffries' post and wrote:

"These ridiculous labels have lost all meaning considering they’re indiscriminately thrown at every single person who doesn't think exactly like them. They would call *anyone* who voted for Trump the exact same thing. Yawn."

Meanwhile, Hakeem Jeffries is widely expected to become the first-ever Black Speaker in the House (via The Guardian). He wasn't the only Democratic leader to have slammed Trump's decision to promote Miller. California Governor Gavin Newsom wrote on X:

"Donald Trump just promoted one of the most vile thugs to ever slither into the Oval Office. This is an insult to every American who voted for change on Tuesday. Stephen Miller cooked up the sadistic mass deportation regime that ripped apart families and trampled basic civil rights. Innocent people are dead because of him. Voters rejected his cruelty and extremism. This is sick."

Miller is widely known to be Trump's right hand in his mass deportation, Greenland invasion, and birthright citizenship agendas, among others.

The POTUS announced Miller's promotion via a post on Truth Social on Friday. He wrote:

"I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026. Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff. She has done a great job! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

This led to a big debate in the media, with the Democrats and the Republicans expectedly on opposite ends. While Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries and Gavin Newsom slammed the appointment, many Republican leaders welcomed it.

The White House Communications Director, Steven Cheung, wrote on X:

"Stephen Miller is a Trump OG, someone who has been with the President since the very beginning. There is no bigger advocate for the Trump agenda than Stephen, and he will help the Administration deliver on monumental victories for the rest of this historic second term."

Meanwhile, Utah Senator Mike Lee labeled Miller "a true conservative warrior". Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt wrote on X that Miller "understands exactly what is at stake."
