Travis Kelce and wedding reference in Taylor Swift’s new track ‘Cleveland’ explored as the singer responds to critics of her relationship

Billionaire pop icon Taylor Swift's new song Cleveland has taken the internet by storm after her fans and followers have reportedly figured out that the song is about her NFL star husband, Travis Kelce, and their wedding. While the song Cleveland references Swift's husband and their wedding, it also mentions Ohio's Cleveland Heights, where Travis grew up.

According to The Big Lead, Taylor Swift's song Cleveland is part of the pop star's newly released album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, released on September 25, 2026, which is an expanded deluxe version of her 2025 album of the same name. The new album contains three other songs besides Cleveland, which are Pink Clouding, Babylon, and Patient Zero.

Interestingly, as Taylor Swift's new song went viral and is currently the talk of the town, Cleveland not only references Travis Kelce and their wedding, but it also addresses the critics and haters who scrutinized her relationship with Kelce. According to The Big Lead, the newly released song Cleveland's chorus reads:

"He already took me to Cleveland, and showed me The Heights. So Hate all you like, this is the love of my life."

In another chorus of the song, Taylor Swift references her big fat wedding at NYC's Madison Square Garden. Swift sings:

"He already took me to Cleveland, now I'm wearing white, so hate all you like, this is the love of my life."

However, before dropping The Life of a Show Girl: The Encore, Swift shared a post on Instagram about her latest album, with a caption that read:

"About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history. I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album."

Taylor further added:

"Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs. I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made. The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore including four new songs is out on Friday and available to pre-order and save now."
