Mehdi Hasan has slammed JD Vance for his recent statements in Ohio. The US Vice President said that "illegal immigrant Somalis" are allegedly looking to vote in the midterm elections.

JD Vance has been campaigning for the Republican candidates in the midterm elections on November 3. He recently gave a speech at a rally in Ohio. Vivek Ramaswamy is the Republican candidate for governor in the state. He is up against the Democratic candidate, Amy Acton.

During his speech, Vance made some allegations, saying:

"Now, I saw a story, just in the last couple of days, that there are illegal communities of illegal immigrant Somalis who are coordinating to flood the polls and drown out your vote. Well, I happen to believe that we want American elections to belong to American citizens. Send a message by voting for Vivek for governor."

Journalist Mehdi Hasan quoted this clip on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, November 2, and wrote:

"Vance admitted in 2024 that he is happy to make up stories to get media attention. A truly sick, dishonest, racist individual. I hope his biracial kids grow up to be ashamed of their Nazi-leaning dad."

Hasan has consistently slammed JD Vance on social media for his thoughts and campaigns over the years. On October 29, he also took a dig at Vance potentially being the presidential candidate, writing:

"If Vance is the candidate in 2028, he will be eminently beatable. He is an awful politician."

He has also accused the US Vice President of lying multiple times on social media.

In October, JD Vance spoke in Montana as he backed the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Kurt Alme. He shared an alleged story that happened after the tragic 9/11 attacks.

He said:

"Of course, in the aftermath of 9/11, it wasn't the politicians' kids who went off to fight the wars. It was us. It was the people in this room. It was me and my family. It was kids from Montana and Ohio whose love for this country reached to our very bones."

He said that he remembered a "sense of pride" after the attacks, as everyone came together to support each other. He added:

"I remember driving to a local gas station to wait hours in line for gasoline that was now, of course, more expensive because of a region of the world made up of countries of names that I couldn't even pronounce."

Mehdi Hasan, however, slammed Vance and wrote on X:

"JD Vance's in-laws' names are Radhakrishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri. I wonder if he tells them this stuff, too. To their faces. Or does he just save it for white MAGA rallies? Truly a racist pathetic embarrassment of a son-in-law to his brown Indian immigrant in-laws."

JD Vance has also criticized Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from Michigan. This led to Mehdi Hasan taking aim at Vance, claiming that he wrote a "book complaining about his community and upbringing."
