On October 12, AOC condemned the Trump administration after federal authorities reportedly searched Ilhan Omar’s house. The US Rep. showed support for Ilhan Omar after her residence was raided over her alleged involvement in immigration fraud. In her post, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused the Trump administration of launching ‘slanderous’ attacks against Ilhan. She wrote:

“For years, the Trump admin has launched slanderous attacks against Rep. Omar. This morning, the administration sent federal officials to raid her home.”

AOC further dubbed it as an ‘unprecedented’ abuse of power.

"We cannot and will not accept this unprecedented abuse of power. I stand with @Ilhan.”

The Minnesota Rep. in a tweet responded after a search was conducted by federal authorities at her residence. She said that Trump’s administration has targeted her repeatedly for ‘baseless’ lies. She also criticized them for weaponizing law enforcement agencies against their 'political enemies.' Ilhan Omar wrote:

“I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced," she remarked.

NYC Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, also came out in support of Omar. In his X post, he called out the federal government for turning the full force of the Department of Homeland Security against Ilhan. He wrote:

“This morning, the federal government turned the full force of the Department of Homeland Security against a sitting member of Congress for the offense of disagreeing with the White House.”

Zohran Mamdani went on to say that Ilhan is a naturalized American. He wrote:

“The path to citizenship should not be weaponized against anyone, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, a naturalized American who swore an oath to this country — the same one that I took. The promise of citizenship should not be contingent on someone agreeing with the federal government.”

Several other Democrats called out the federal government for misusing their powers against Ilhan. Hasan Piker also showed support for the US Rep.
