Zack Peter has shared his thoughts on Ryan Reynolds' past messages in support of Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni. He claimed that the Deadpool star appeared to be a "controlling husband".

Many documents from the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni were released last week, as per Page Six. They also contained text messages between Ryan Reynolds and talent agent Warren Zavala from August 2024. The actor urged Zavala to push Sony to protect his wife from criticism during the promotion of It Ends With Us.

Blake Lively was criticized back then due to rumors about her alleged on-set behavior. Moreover, she also promoted her beverage and haircare brand at the same time, leading to more criticism. Reynolds slammed Baldoni and Sony in the released messages.

Podcaster Zack Peter reacted to this on his podcast on Monday, October 12, saying:

"It kind of just seems like he's a very controlling husband. Do we think that he's just being, like, a good husband protecting his wife? Or do we think he's a bit of a tyrant?"

Peter added that Blake Lively did not have a "stellar reputation" before It Ends With Us, while many people were unaware of Justin Baldoni. He said that Lively "has been known to be a diva on set and has been known to have been difficult to work with in the past."

The podcaster added:

"Ryan Reynolds just doesn't think that he and Blake Lively could ever do wrong, and they had to make Justin Baldoni public enemy number one."

He further said that Sony was "on the mark" and said that due to Lively's alleged "past behavior", people "leaned into" criticizing her at the time.

Blake Lively faced a lot of criticism at the time of promoting It Ends With Us. It grew after she and Justin Baldoni, who directed and acted in the movie, were never seen together on red carpets. Her alleged past "on-set behavior" was also questioned.

According to Page Six, Ryan Reynolds told Warren Zavala that Sony must “start advocating” for his wife and release a statement. He added that the criticism against her was “part of a systematic and coordinated campaign by a crisis p.r. team.”

The Free Guy star also drafted a statement for Sony to release, but it wasn't. He then wrote in another text to Zavala:

“This needs to be addressed immediately. This is the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen in this business. Sony needs to step up for real. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”

Continuing his urging of Sony to release a statement in support of Lively, he added:

“They should be protecting B. They can and should accept the consequences of their actions, and lean into the countless and willfully gross behavior before it leans into them. They made a big f**king mess.”

Ryan Reynolds added that Lively "missed countless moments with her kids" while making the movie and urged Sony to support her in public.
