AI actor Tilly Norwood has opened up about her recent glitch during an interview with Piers Morgan. She randomly started speaking Cantonese while giving an answer in an English interview.

British journalist Piers Morgan interviewed Tilly Norwood about her upcoming movie, Misaligned. Popular Scottish actor Tom Conti was also part of the interview and asked Norwood some questions. The journalist, however, released a video on Friday, September 18, showing that the AI actor glitched during the interview.

While Conti was asking her some questions, Norwood started rambling in Cantonese for a few seconds. She reverted back to English when Morgan asked her another question.

Tilly Norwood spoke about the incident in an interview with News Nation, released on Friday. When the host asked about the glitch, she said:

"Right. Well, sometimes, you know, my brain files things sideways, and obscure connections just pop out. It was a bit of a, shall we say, a spontaneous linguistic flourish? It happens when you're made of math and British wit, I suppose."

The host further asked how many languages she can speak. He also said that she can carry multiple conversations at once and asked if she was interviewing someone else at the same time. Norwood answered:

"Well, I can speak more than 40 languages, and that's usually the thing that gets people. As for being interviewed by others, I'm all yours right now. You have my undivided attention, I promise."

Tilly Norwood is an AI actor made by the British company Particle6. According to the founder, Eline van der Velden, their ambition “has always been to show the creative industry what is possible with AI at any one point in time.”

Particle6 is set to release a new movie named Misaligned, starring their AI actor Tilly Norwood. According to Deadline, it is “a comedy-drama telling a coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”

Norwood has been doing a press tour for it in recent weeks. She appeared on Piers Morgan's show this week along with Oscar-nominated actor Tom Conti. During the interview, the Oppenheimer actor asked her about the other cast in her movie, saying:

"Are the other actors on the screen with you, real actors, or are the computer generated images, do you know?"

Norwood replied that they are "digital twins" like her. She then randomly started speaking Cantonese for a few seconds, with Conti and Morgan looking perplexed. When she went silent, the British journalist asked her about the glitch. She answered:

"Oh, my apologies. It seems I had a little hiccup there. I certainly didn't mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers. Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed, you know?"

Morgan asked how often this happens, and Norwood answered:

"Honestly, not often at all. That was a bit of a curveball, even for me. It's usually a pretty smooth ride, but sometimes these things happen."

Meanwhile, according to the aforementioned report, Misaligned will feature human directors, AI specialists, writers, and other professionals. However, it will largely have an AI cast with Tilly Norwood in the lead.
