A statue honoring Charlie Kirk was vandalized, prompting Erika Kirk and her organization, Turning Point USA (TPUSA), to react and announce plans for restoration.The nonprofit said in a social media post that it would repair the statue and nearby signs. The organization added that they were reviewing the footage and assisting the authorities in their investigation.According to the group, the vandalism occurred overnight. Spray paint was placed on the statue’s neck and face. There was also a sign nearby where the name of Jesus was scratched out.Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk's widow, responded by recalling her late husband's belief in responding to destruction by building something stronger.“Charlie once said we should be building two statues for every statue that they tear down. His instinct was always to build, not to destroy. They thought a bullet would silence my husband’s voice but it only made it louder. They think spray paint can obscure his legacy, but it will only spread it further. Every attempt to tear down what Charlie built makes us root deeper and work even harder.”Erika Kirk vows to restore late husband Charlie Kirk’s statue and “keep building”The TPUSA chief said that the legacy of her husband would carry on no matter what, despite what was done to harm the statue or to diminish his contributions.She also mentioned that the situation had something to do with Charlie Kirk’s Christian faith, saying efforts to erase the name of Jesus would not silence Christians.“And if you think crossing out the name of Jesus Christ will silence Christians, history has already proved you wrong. We know what it costs to stand firm for Christ and we will stand anyway. God will not be mocked.”Erika Kirk went on, vowing that they won’t give up.“We’ll put His name right back where it belongs, clean up the mess, restore Charlie's statue, and keep building. We will never give up and never surrender.”This was in response to the announcement that Turning Point USA would repair the statue and replace the damaged signs. They announced their intention to hold accountable those who were responsible.Erika Kirk also referenced the violence that took Charlie Kirk's life, saying that people who thought a bullet would make him quiet have made him louder than ever before.
