Jennifer Meyer recently opened up about the challenges she faced during her divorce from actor Tobey Maguire. The jewelry designer spoke on the Inside Edit podcast about the years following their separation. She shared how hard it was to part ways while raising two young children.

Jennifer and Tobey married in 2007 and separated in 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2020. They share two children, Ruby and Otis. At the time of their separation, both kids were still young, which made the situation more difficult.

Jennifer explained that parenting during those years was intense.

She said, “Our daughter was 10 or something. Those are some intense times that you need to stay connected.”

She also added that their son was only 7 back then. The couple had to stay involved as parents while dealing with personal changes.

Among the greatest challenges that Jennifer Meyer disclosed was dealing with co-parenting immediately after the separation. Having two young children, both parents needed to remain active in their lives. Jennifer explained that bringing up kids at that age does not come easy, and both parents are required to put effort and concentration.

Jennifer clarified that not everything was alright:

She said, “It was not easy every day, and I’m sure he would say the same thing, 100 percent.”

The former couple had to adjust to a new family structure.

Jennifer also revealed that they faced serious issues that needed to be worked through.

She said, “We definitely had to overcome some big hurdles.”

This shows that their post-divorce friendship took time, patience, and effort from both sides.

Jennifer Meyer attributed therapy to being one of the turning points in their healing. They met a therapist referred by Gwyneth Paltrow. Meyer has given credit to Gwyneth in the past, as she helped her deal with the breakup.

Jennifer Meyer claimed that their relationship changed significantly after she had attended therapy. She said that the work helped them to communicate more easily and decreased tension. The transformation was that, over time, their relationship was no longer that of husband and wife but of close friends.

Today, Jennifer Meyer describes Tobey as one of the most important people in her life.

She said, “I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him.”

This reflects how far their relationship has come since the early days of their split.

Their public appearances also show the change. Tobey supported Jennifer at her jewelry brand’s 20th anniversary event in Los Angeles in October. Later that month, they were also seen together at the A Sense of Home gala. An eyewitness said they were on “good terms.”
