New York Yankees on June 4 night annnounced that outfielder Aaron Judge will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a stress fracture of his ribs. Judge was out of the lineup earlier on June 4 for a third straight game while the Yankees were awaiting clarity about the bone bruise in one of the right arms that had been causing shoulder pain. The team later announced that the athlete was diagnosed with the stress facture of the first rib on his right side and will need to rest and limit activity. The athlete will be re-evaluated after having additional imaging in about four to six weeks. In a statement, the Yankees mentioned that the player is expected to return "at some point this season."Manager Aaron Boone said that the team was awaiting findings of Dr. Gregory Pearl, a vascular specialist in Dallas. "Look, it's a lot of smart people in a specialized area and (the) guy's several states away. We've just got to be patient."Boone on Thursday morning said,"I'm obviously not a doctor, I don't know how it all works, but there's a lot of people involved in trying to make sure we get the right diagnosis."Dr. Spencer Stein, NYU Langone Sports orthopedic surgeon told NY Post, that Judge needs a lot of healing time,"It needs rest. This injury can happen with repetitive overuse, so it could be as simple as resting for a week or two, but if it's more like a stress fracture, it could be more like 8-10 weeks."It's unclear if the stress fracture would lead to removal of the rib. Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler was diagnosed with vacuous TOS and had to undergo removal of the rib last September.More about Aaron Judge's health conditionThis is not the first time Aaron Judge has been diagnosed with a stress fracture. In March, 2020, the player was diagnosed with a stress fracture in one of his right ribs. The injury was caused after Aaron Judge dived for a ball in September, 2019. However, Judge didn't miss any important games at the time, since the 2020 season was delayed by the pandemic. At 6ft 7inches, Judge holds the AL record for the most home runs in a season with 62. Judge was drafted by the Yankees in the first round of the 2013 MLB draft with the 32nd overrall selection. Judge received a $1.8 million signing bonus.
