On June 4, Latto appeared as a guest on Breakfast Club, where she admitted that she talked about Cardi B in her new song ‘Gimme Dat.’ The conflict between the two female rappers started after a phone call between Cardi B and Ice Spice’s manager leaked last year. In the call, Cardi referred to Latto as ‘p**sy.’ Although Cardi apologized to the Big Mama rapper, her recent podcast reveal drew Cardi's response via a new X post.

The Money rapper said she understood Latto’s feelings and publicly apologized because the disrespect was made public. She added that she didn’t intend to harm Latto; it was her choice of words. Cardi B said that she was trying to describe Latto as overly forgiving with that term.

“I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public. On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm.. There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant. What I could have said was you was too forgiving and gave too much mercy in that situation.. But it was a heated conversation and I let my mouth get the best of me.”

She went on to add that she was eight months pregnant and released her new album at the time when call came out. Cardi B also mentioned her multiple attempts when she tried to talk to her and her acquaintances to take full responsibility for her words.

“When the call came out I was eight months pregnant, had just released my album, and was extremely overwhelmed and emotional. Thats not to excuse what I said but to let you know where I was in my head. I genuinely felt bad about what happened. In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect…I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility. I always had love and respect for you !”

Lastly, Cardi B seemed upset with Latto as she drew their feud in her album.

“I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us… I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album”

What did Latto say about Cardi B’s phone call on Breakfast Club podcast?

During the podcast, the Big Energy rapper shared how she came to know about the leaked call. She said that she was pregnant and her emotions were high at the time.

“Well, yes. Yeah, it was about Cardi. Um, like we were saying earlier, like I I rap about what's going on in my life at the moment. At the time, I was Well, first of all, I made this album over nine months. I made the album while I was pregnant. And yeah, I was at an early stage in my pregnancy. Mhm. And I rushed to the studio to do this verse for her in time for the first week sales, whatever. And for air time. Yeah. For airtime remix. And literally like two days later, I'm see all over at I'm being called p**sy”

She said that Cardi B apologized to her in public for calling her “pu**y,” but didn’t say sorry personally until a few months later, which upset her. Therefore, Latto targeted Cardi in her song Gimme Dat.

“I'm I'm pregnant. Emotions high. Like Yeah. And it's someone I dead eyes looked at as a friend. Like I understand this um you know industry first too, but we we was on a texting basis. So I feel like yeah you tweeted to the world but we got each other number. Yeah. You know. Um Oh never talked personally after that around that.”

Latto released her track, Gimme Dat, on May 29, which belongs to her album Big Mama.
