Gucci Mane was robbed and kidnapped by Pooh Shiesty, Big30, and seven others on January 10, the Department of Justice reports. The attack happened in Dallas, Texas, after the group set up what they said was a business meeting.

Ryan Raybould, who serves as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, talked about the incident.

"As alleged, nine defendants travelled to Dallas, Texas, to kidnap and rob victims who thought they were coming into town for a business meeting. Instead of discussing business in a civil matter, the defendants resorted to violence and intimidation to achieve their purported business objectives," Raybould said.

Pooh Shiesty, who goes by Lontrell Williams Jr. legally, wanted to meet with Gucci Mane about his 1017 Records label contract. Williams wore an ankle monitor and couldn't leave his house at the time. His case manager called him anyway.

Gucci Mane tried to reschedule the meeting, but Williams refused and got him into a room with his father and another artist. Things turned violent when Williams pulled what looked like a black AK-style pistol and pointed it at Gucci Mane, forcing him to sign papers releasing him from his contract.

Electronic monitoring data and social media posts were used as evidence against the nine defendants involved in the Gucci Mane case:

As per a report shared by the Los Angeles Times, Gucci Mane, born Radric Davis, discovered Lontrell Williams Jr. in 2020 and signed him to 1017 Records. Davis noticed Williams Jr. after his singles began gaining traction on social media platforms. Pooh Shiesty had a successful 2021 when Back in Blood became a chart-topping hit and went multiplatinum.

That year also brought legal trouble for Pooh Shiesty, who got a five-year prison sentence on firearms conspiracy charges from the Southern District of Florida. After serving three years, he was released early in October but had to finish his sentence on home detention.

Pooh Shiesty, the artist behind Federal Contraband, was still under house arrest in January when the music studio incident allegedly took place. According to the complaint, prosecutors used electronic monitoring data showing Williams Jr. was at the Dallas studio, which went against the terms of his home detention.

Additional evidence gathered by prosecutors included phone records, rental car records proving Williams Sr. got a vehicle the men used, surveillance video captured at the studio, fingerprints from two defendants lifted from the crime scene, hotel records showing some of the men checked in nearby after the robbery, and social media posts where some of the charged individuals appeared wearing what looked like stolen watches and jewelry.

D. Michael Dunavant, who is the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, addressed what comes next for the defendants.

"These defendants will be transported to the Northern District of Texas to face their crimes," Dunavant said.

As per the Los Angeles Times, the defendants face up to life in prison if found guilty.

Waka Flocka Flame refuses to weigh in on the Gucci Mane case despite their estranged relationship:

As per a report shared by Hot97, Waka Flocka Flame also replied to theories that started online after the arrests of Pooh Shiesty and Big30 regarding the Gucci Mane situation. The thirty-nine-year-old rapper issued a statement on X on April 2 to distance himself from the unfolding situation.

"Man y'all out yo f*cking mind if you think I'm a celebrate wop situation if tho we ain't on one accord…none of my business carrying 🅱️💲〽️," Waka wrote.

The remark spoke to fans who thought he might react in a negative way to Gucci Mane's situation. Gucci, who gets called Wop, has family connections with Waka. During the late 2000s, the artists also helped in shaping Atlanta's trap movement.

However, their relationship went sour around 2010. Their issues involved public criticism, loyalty, and management.

Back in 2021, Deb Antney, who is Waka's mother, spoke about the issues between her son and Gucci. Deb, who was also Gucci Mane's former manager, shared that Gucci allegedly stole five thousand dollars from French Montana (famous for his song Unforgettable), who was also a former client of Antney.

Waka's post recognized that distance while rejecting the idea that he would celebrate legal trouble involving his cousin. His phrase

"if tho we ain't on one accord"

signaled that the pair remain out of alignment despite their shared history in the music industry.

The closing line also carried symbolism. By stating the situation was

"none of my business carrying 🅱️💲〽️,"

Waka referenced Brick Squad Monopoly, the crew that once defined both artists' rise in rap. The emoji shorthand suggested he no longer represents that collective dynamic in public disputes.
