On May 28, Scooter Braun appeared as a guest on the Second Thought podcast with Suzy Weiss. Sydney Sweeney’s boyfriend talked about many topics during the conversation including Kanye West, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber. Among other topics, he also touched upon Taylor Swift controversy.

In 2019, Taylor Swift’s old record label, Big Machine Records, was sold to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. This deal included the rights to the Bad Blood singer’s first six albums, which were given to them without her permission. She called this her “worst-case scenario.”

For years, Swift talked about how upset this made her and criticized how the industry treated artists’ rights. The Love Story vocalist was determined to get back control of her music, and she finally did this by buying the masters of her early albums from Shamrock Capital. This company already bought them from Scooter Braun’s firm. After years of waiting, Taylor Swift finally reclaimed her music last year.

Scooter Braun talked about Taylor Swift in his latest podcast. He said that he had never had a substantial talk with Swift. He recalled how Taylor once invited him to her party and gave him respect. Scooter admitted that he respected Swift and was thrilled to work with her after buying her label.

"I don’t know Taylor Swift. I think I’ve met her in my life three times. I have never had a substantial conversation with her in my life. I one time got invited to a private party by her. She told me she had the utmost respect for me. I told her I had the most respect for her. You don’t spend $300 million buying a label that she’s on unless you’re excited at the opportunity to work with her. I will never truly understand that situation. To this day, I wish her nothing but the best."

Scooter Braun called her feud with Taylor Swift a ‘misconception’

The talent manager said that he learned a lot from the female singer. He further dubbed his feud with Taylor as a ‘misconception.’

“I learned a tremendous amount from it. I chose to grow from it. I’m grateful for it at this point in my life. But I think there’s this big misconception that, like, we knew each other and we had this feud and I managed her for years. And people are usually shocked to find out that I legitimately don’t know her and didn’t have many interactions with her and never really knew her."

Scooter Braun has also managed celebrities like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West. He also talked about these stars in the video.
