Podcaster and political commentator Link Lauren has reacted to the Democrats winning the US midterm elections. He shared his thoughts on the issues that led to the Republicans' defeat.

The Democrats have won the midterm elections, taking control of the US Senate and House. Some states have yet to be 100% reported at the time of writing, but many have flipped this year as well. The likes of Ken Paxton and Vivek Ramaswamy lost to the Democrats in their respective states.

Link Lauren expressed his disappointment at the results in a video on X (formerly Twitter). He said:

"I love this country way too much to sugarcoat things. What happened tonight was an utter calamity. South Carolina turned blue, Texas turned blue, Ohio turned blue."

He said that the Republicans had a "major candidate quality problem". He slammed Ken Paxton, the Republicans' candidate from Texas, and said:

"He's not great to look at. He's not great on the stump, and he set off over the summer."

He said that Paxton went on a "vacation with his girlfriend instead of being at home campaigning" in the summer. He added:

"So now we just handed Texas to James Talarico, who is a vegan, goddess non-binary, p*ssy boy, radical. We did that to ourselves."

Slamming Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican candidate from Ohio, Link Lauren said:

"He is a barefoot, obnoxious, anchor baby who wants to import a bunch of foreign workers and said kids should go to school year round. He's very unlikeable."

The podcaster also criticized Darline Graham, the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from South Carolina. The state flipped for the first time in 30 years as Democrat Annie Andrews won the Senate race.

The political commentator also highlighted some issues he believes led to the Republicans' defeat in the midterm elections. Link Lauren said that the result was a 'referendum on gas, diesel, affordability, housing and cost of living'.

He said:

"There were several major Republicans who took shots at young white men. 'Oh, you're just lazy, living in your parents' basement'. That messaging was p*ss poor heading into election day."

Stating his third reason for the defeat, Lauren said:

"The messaging of 'short term pain for long term gain' was not good messaging. As conservatives, as Republicans, we usually are so good at messaging, that was not it."

Praising Donald Trump, Link Lauren also claimed that Congress did not support the POTUS. He said that Trump "had some great executive orders, like keeping men out of women's sports". He added that Trump had closed the borders. He questioned Congress, saying:

"We did not pass the Save America Act. We did not do what we needed to do to support the president and these positives he was trying to bring to the country."

Lauren said that despite the Republicans having control of the Senate for two years, Congress couldn't pass many bills. He claimed that the leaders would say they would "pass these things" when they win in the next midterm elections.
