Jena Malone might not be the most household name in Hollywood, but you probably know her work, though. Malone played the feisty Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games films. The actress recently announced her engagement to fellow actor Jack Buckley. She called him a dream come true.
Jena shared pictures from the proposal in a joint Instagram post on February 11.
"My soulmate asked me to marry him," Jena wrote.
She also mentioned that Jack got the blessing from her two moms, sister, and son, Ode Mountain DeLorenzo Malone. Jena shares her 9-year-old son with ex Ethan DeLorenzo.
"With every lifetime, every moment I have in front of me I said yes," added Jena.
The 41-year-old wrote directly to Jack in the post.
"I love you forever!!!" Jena said.
The Donnie Darko actress included an original poem with her announcement. She wrote about the patience she had while waiting for forever with Jack.
"It was always you / Even in those long, dark spaces of my youth. Where I learned to hold my own heart / You were always there / Breathing life into these tiny glimmers of a child's heart….Love…..Soulmate……Marriage," shared Jena.
Jena Malone shared her journey coming out as pansexual in 2022:

Jena, who found her person in Jack, has also been open about her journey to discovering her sexuality. As per a report shared by Today in 2022, Malone shared her journey coming out as pansexual.
Back then, Malone posted a video of her dancing to the song "Book of Bringhi" on Instagram. The Hunger Games actor said she felt like a heterosexual man in a woman's body.
"I visualized his desires and placed them on to me. But this, was never the whole of the story that was meant for me. So I've been learning a new way to tell it. Using words to guide me not define me," she shared.
"That my sexual identity has more to teach and to tell me. Finding words that feel more right to explore in my telling. Pansexuality. Sapiosexuality. Polyamory. A fuller spectrum of understanding that my story is demanding of me. And I'm honoring it today with this soft and sleepy little stretch of a dance," she added.
Jena Malone added more.
"I love humans. So there's that," she said.
Jena Malone said she intended to publish the post on Pansexual Awareness Day. The day falls on May 24. Her explanation was that she's a mom and always a few months late for everything.
Jena Malone said her family shaped her understanding of identity before she revealed a painful chapter:

In 2022, Jena Malone spoke candidly with The Hollywood Reporter about her sexuality. She said the experience of coming out felt freeing.
"It felt so nice," she said.
"I’ve been thinking about it for a while. The sexual journey is so beautiful."
Malone described the process as something deeply human.
"It’s a part of humanity now to have all these ceremonies of exclamation around coming out and renouncing (an identity) and celebrating that space for yourself. It’s a really sweet, human experience. I love getting to learn more about myself no matter the age or my experience," she added.
She explained that open conversations about sexuality were normal in her household growing up. Her family dynamic, she said, encouraged that.
"My sister is queer and I grew up with two moms who were lovers and then they split. My mom sort of became hetero again, mostly through an understanding of Christianity. And then my god mom married her partner of 17 years now. So, I have three moms and my dad who has been a hetero man all his life," Malone shared.
The following year, Jena Malone revealed something she had carried quietly for years. In 2023, Malone disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by someone she worked with during the filming of the franchise.
She shared the story on Instagram alongside a photo taken after filming wrapped on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.
“This photo was taken right after I wrapped Mockingjay Part Two and I had to say goodbye to everyone on set,” she wrote.
She said she stepped into a field in France to cry.
“Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me… A swirling mix of emotions I’m only now just learning to sort thru.”
Jena Malone later said she worked toward healing and peace through restorative justice.
“I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life, I guess. How to hold the chaos with the beauty. I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn thru restorative justice, how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself.
