Jonathan Taylor Thomas was reportedly arrested for alleged public intoxication on Monday, September 21. The actor was also allegedly "uncooperative" and resisted the police officers.
According to PEOPLE, the Home Improvement star was traveling in a car with some people in Westlake Village, California. The police reportedly pulled the car over for a DUI investigation. They allegedly told Thomas to stay in the car, but he got out.
The authorities have claimed that Jonathan Taylor Thomas was allegedly intoxicated. They stated:
“The driver was being detained for DUI investigation. Sometime during the investigation, Mr. Taylor decided he would exit the vehicle. Deputies told him to sit back down in the vehicle. He was uncooperative with them, failed to follow orders, and obstructed the investigation, so he was arrested for obstruction, and he was arrested for drunk in public."
Thomas was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and was released 34 hours later. No charges were filed against him at the time, but the prosecutors can still review the case and file charges.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Taylor Thomas is best known for his role as Randy Taylor on the sitcom Home Improvement. It premiered in 1991 and ran for eight seasons until 1999. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Thomas has a net worth of $12 million.
The 45-year-old also starred in shows and movies such as Wild America, Tom and Huck, and Man of the House. He also voiced Simba in the iconic 1994 Disney movie, The Lion King. Thomas stepped away from acting around 1999. He still made a rare appearance on Last Man Standing between 2013 and 2015.
When Jonathan Taylor Thomas opened up about leaving show business
After starring in multiple big movies and shows, Jonathan Taylor Thomas moved away from acting in 1999. He left Home Improvement to focus on his studies. He eventually attended Harvard, Columbia, and St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.
In an interview with PEOPLE in 2013, he spoke about his decision and said:
“I’d been going nonstop since I was 8 years old. I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break. To sit in a big library amongst books and students, that was pretty cool. It was a novel experience for me.”
While he has largely stayed out of the limelight since then, Thomas appeared in four episodes of Last Man Standing between 2013 and 2015. It reunited him with Tim Allen, who played his father on Home Improvement. He also directed three episodes of the show.
When asked if he regretted leaving, Jonathan Taylor Thomas said:
“I never took the fame too seriously. It was a great period in my life, but it doesn’t define me. When I think back on the time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not that I was on a lot of magazine covers.”
He also said that he is more interested in staying behind the camera now, directing or writing scripts.
