Three of Lionel Richie's upcoming shows with Earth, Wind & Fire have been cancelled due to his recent hospitalization. The musician reportedly underwent a procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib) and is currently recovering.Lionel Richie has had numerous health issues over the years, including several this year. He announced the Sing a Song All Night Long Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, which commenced in June this year. A representative told PEOPLE:“Lionel underwent a common procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib). The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon.”According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), AFib is "the most common type of treated heart arrhythmia. An arrhythmia is when the heart beats too slowly, too fast, or in an irregular way."Following Richie's hospitalization, three of his shows with Earth, Wind & Fire have been cancelled. These are: San Francisco (September 26), Chicago (September 30), and Columbus, Ohio (October 2). However, his upcoming residency at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas is expected to go ahead on schedule. The singer-songwriter is set to perform a six-show residency, which will be split across two months. He will perform three shows on October 14, 16, and 17, and the remaining three on November 11, 13, and 14. On the opening night in Minnesota in June, Richie asked for a chair during his performance and told the crowd:“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your a** down."He then went offstage for a few minutes, but the show was eventually cancelled. They also cancelled their shows after that in Chicago and Ohio. He returned to the stage on June 30 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
