A London man was sentenced to four years in prison for assaulting a woman during a call with Barron Trump, with prosecutors saying the 23-year-old also tried to pressure the victim to withdraw her accusations.

Matvei Rumiantsev assaulted a woman in London while she was in a FaceTime call with Donald Trump's son in January 2025. The woman, whose identity isn't revealed for legal reasons, later told the police that Rumiantsev was her ex.

As he was at the other end of the line, Barron Trump, 19, reported the incident to the UK authorities, prompting quick action and aiding in the case. Due to this, Matvei Rumiantsev was convicted of assault causing bodily harm.

In the latest developments, Rumiantsev received a four-year sentence: two years for perverting the course of justice (prosecutors reported he wrote to the woman while he was in detention, in which he pressured her to retract her allegations), and another two years for the conviction of assault.

Rumiantsev also admitted during the trial to being "jealous to some extent" over the woman's friendship with Barron Trump. He also alleged that he and the victim had quarreled about it in 2024.

Barron Trump says alerting police during assault call was "the best thing I could do."

Barron Trump reportedly didn't reveal his name when he made the emergency call in the midst of the assault. The phone call was recorded and was also released later on, wherein he talked to a dispatcher and alerted them of the incident. The transcript says:

"I'm calling from the U.S., I just got a call from a girl … she's getting beat up. This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to, how to call someone. It's really an emergency."

The POTUS's son then told the dispatcher the woman's address, and they immediately headed to the scene, rescuing her. She also told the authorities she was friends with the caller.

In a body cam footage, one officer can be heard guessing that the emergency caller is likely Barron Trump. With this, they phoned the US President's son again to confirm his identity, to which he concurred.

He told them he and the woman met online and became friends soon after. Barron added that he swiftly called the emergency services as his friend was "getting beaten up really badly" for about 15 seconds.

According to him, in the recorded call, alerting the authorities was the "best thing I could do," and that threatening Rumiantsev through his call with his friend would have made the situation worse.

Meanwhile, Rumiantsev was found not guilty of one count of rape and strangulation relating to the same incident when Barron Trump phoned the police.
