Amanda Seyfried claims that her title of "executive producer" on The Housemaid is a "vanity credit."

A Vanity Credit is a title given to a person as a perk to boost their prestige and reputation, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The individual needs to have little to no hands-on involvement in the production. Amanda Seyfried recently promoted her film The Housemaid on The Graham Norton Show, in which she plays Nina Winchester alongside Sydney Sweeney.

When asked about the movie being a boost for her career both as an actor and as an Executive Producer, Seyfried admitted that her title on the film was purely a vanity credit, and she didn't executive-produce the film.

"I'm a producer on it and I didn't know until three weeks in. I saw the call sheet and I was like, 'Executive producer? I didn't sign up for that.' I called one of the producers and was like, 'You guys have me on as an executive producer.' And he was like, 'That's what your agent negotiated.' And I was like, 'Well this really better be a hit then."

Seyfried added,

"It was one of those vanity credits, because I didn't do s--t to make that movie. I only acted in it. That's the thing about vanity credits. I don't want people to get it twisted. What Margot (Robbie) does is really intensely developing movies from jump. I just jumped in, had a bunch of fun and left. And now, I'm like, they're sending me on a vacation."

Millie, with a troubled past, looks to find a break with the job, and ends up finding her employers' dangerous secrets. While speaking to People in an exclusive interview published in December 2025, Amanda Seyfried revealed that she bonded with co-star Sweeney immediately. Seyfriend mentioned that it was "easy to support" the Euphoria actress, and that she ended up with "way too much unsolicited advice."

Sweeney, in the interview, mentioned that she liked destroying things as a part of her role, since she usually doesn't get movies that allow her to do so. Sweeney added that she loved to be a part of the film that embraces "female rage," to which Seyfried agreed.
