Cara Delevingne has confirmed long-standing rumors that she was romantically linked to Amber Heard following her split from Johnny Depp back in May 2016. The model and actress revealed the news during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where she spoke about her previous relationship with Heard, Depp's alleged jealousy, and her own sexuality. This comes almost a decade after speculations linking Delevingne and Heard began following the latter's divorce from Depp.During the podcast, Theroux mentioned what he referred to as "the Johnny Depp thing," explaining to Cara Delevingne that Depp had been "driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you."Initially reluctant, Delevingne responded:"Am I meant to comment?"She then stated that the allegations originally surfaced while she, Heard, and Depp were all working on the film London Fields. According to Cara Delevingne, Depp's jealousy began when they were filming together, despite the fact that she and Heard were not romantically involved at the time.“I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point.”She continued as she corrected herself:“Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”Theroux later referred to their relationship as an "entanglement" and questioned if it correctly represented what happened between her and Amber. She then proceeded to ask for the definition, to which Theroux said:“I think it means a relatively short-lived liaison or series of physical encounters.”Delevingne agreed and said:“We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled, I suppose. But she was also entangled with other people.”When Theroux asked if one of those people was Elon Musk, Cara Delevingne seemed to back it up by saying:"There you go." When did Amber Heard and Johnny Depp split?Amber Heard and Johnny Depp got married in February 2015, after being romantically involved for years together. However, in May 2016, Heard filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and requested a temporary restraining order against Depp.Later that year, the couple completed their divorce with a reported $7 million settlement.Following their split, Heard was linked to billionaire and X CEO, Elon Musk, whom she reportedly dated until early 2018. Rumors of a romance between Heard and Delevingne began to circulate around the same time, after the two were sighted together in London.Their split was followed by years of intensely publicized legal disputes. Depp first lost a libel lawsuit against The Sun in the United Kingdom, which claimed he assaulted Heard and referred to him as a "wife beater".Following Depp's lawsuit against Heard over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed, the two squared off in the widely publicized 2022 defamation trial in Virginia. The jury ruled heavily in Depp's favor, awarding him damages, while Heard received a lower payout on one of her counterclaims.Since the trial, Amber Heard has stepped away from Hollywood and now lives in Madrid, Spain, with her daughter, Oonagh Paige and twins, whom she welcomed back in May 2025. Her last movie was Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023), and she has stayed out of the public spotlight since then.Cara Delevingne opens up about her sexualityDuring the podcast, Cara Delevingne also discussed her sexuality and how tough it was for her to come out publicly. Former producer Harvey Weinstein advised her that being openly homosexual could harm her career. She said:“[He said] ‘You’ll never make it in the industry if people think you’re gay.’ And I really believed him, and I really took that to heart.”Louis went on to ask if Cara ever intended to get married and start a family, to which she replied:"Yeah, I do. I really do. I want a family really badly."Cara Delevingne added:"I definitely don’t want to have kids to fix anything, but I think it will really heal parts of myself that have a tough time having sympathy for the kid I was. Because I’ve done a lot of work with that and imagining a little kid going through the things I saw or went through, I couldn’t imagine that."Delevingne also explained that although she finds men attractive, she has never fallen in love with one:"I think men are attractive. I think if you’re a lesbian, you can still find men attractive. I’ve never been in love with a man, so I think that classifies me as a lesbian."Recently, at a Rosalía concert, Cara Delevingne confessed on stage:“If you didn’t know this already, I’m a lesbian and my weakness used to be straight women.”Sometime after this, she spoke about her sexuality on the podcast Call Her Daddy, where she said:“I discovered more about my sexuality through sleeping with my friends because there was a safety in that.”She added, speaking about her experience as a closeted model:“I was in the closet, I was gay, I was also like, am I the only lesbian that’s ever done f***ing Victoria’s Secret? Like this is a big deal. I was having a great time, but also very confused. I felt like I was an undercover lesbian.”Cara Delevingne has now confirmed one of the industry's longest-running relationship rumors on The Louis Theroux Podcast.
