The American singer and actress Dolly Parton died on August 25. The Jolene vocalist passed away at the age of 80. Parton had been going through several health issues in the past months. Per reports, the multi-hyphenate was admitted to the hospital on August 21 in Nashville. Her nephew and Cassie Parton’s son, Bryan Seaver, shared the news of Dolly’s passing on behalf of her family via her Instagram account.

Several figures like President Trump, Kamala Harris, Zohran Mamdani, Bill Clinton, and others paid tribute to the late icon. The political commentator, Laura Loomer, also remembered Dolly Parton in her X post. She also recalled Parton’s NFL performance.

“Wow so sad Dolly Parton has died. She was in great shape in 2023 when she performed at the NFL halftime show on Thanksgiving. I wonder how she passed," Laura Loomer wrote.

For the unversed, Dolly Parton performed at the NFL in November 2023 during the Thanksgiving Day halftime show at AT&T Stadium in a game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders. Parton took the stage in a custom sparkling Dallas Cowboys uniform and performed hits like Jolene and 9 to 5. Following her demise, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders posted a picture from her iconic performance on their Instagram handle.


Dolly Parton's reps revealed that she died after a “brief battle” with cancer

As reported by PEOPLE, the 9to5 singer died following a brief battle with cancer. Parton’s reps confirmed this in their statement after her death.

“Whether it be the hundreds of millions of books donated through her invaluable Imagination Library or funding research that helped create a lifesaving vaccine used around the world, Dolly’s unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact. After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones,” the statement said.

They also confirmed that Dolly was surrounded by her family members at the time of her death. She died in Nashville.

In recent weeks, Dolly canceled her Las Vegas Residency and her Dollywood appearance due to her health struggles. In May this year, she shared a health update after canceling her Las Vegas Residency. She revealed her kidney stone diagnosis.
